Failure Date: 08/22/2020

Have gone through 2 alternators, and 2 batteries, airbags sensor is something problems, rattling while driving from underneath vehicle.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2020

Randomly I receive the meesage "service traction control - engine power reduced" - there is no rhyme or reason. It happens on nice days, rainy days, whether or not I am going uphill, downhill or on flat surfaces. On at least one occasion while driving on the highway, the engine shut off and I had to coast from lane 2 to the shoulder. After 20 minutes, it restarted.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2020

The stabilitrak is making the car shake and act crazy. I'm barely in control of the car. There are thousands of more people having the same problem. The car reduces speed because of this issue. Many groups and blogs online about this. Why hasn't anything been done about this? no recalls or anything.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2019

Very bad knocking noise also electrical fire could've caught on fire.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2018

Takata recall. When vehicle is started a loud screech happen every time vehicle is started, once vehicle is in motion on highway, street, city. And in motion the vehicle starts alarming and lettimg me know in the information widow check tire monitoring system with tire pressure light consistently on then vehicle alarming sounds again to check stability trak and then it alarm s again with the check engine light that the vehicles engine power has been reduced and vehicle is no longer able to pick up speed right away this has been going on sense I purchased it. Also when im making turns the vehicle will alarm about having stability trak serviced.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

My vehicle experiences an engine power is reduced message in addition to losing capability of driving faster than 40 mph likely as a result of a common fault by the manufacturer.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2017

Throttle pedal gone bad /service traction control warning ?.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2017

Engime power reduced seevice tractuon control. While driving power is cut to near nothing. About 20 mph. After shutting the car off and starting a few hours later it's fine. A couple days later it happens again. Faulty equipment from gm.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

I was told from a mechanic the car has either pcm or ecm problems. The car starts to die out when I'm driving it then I have to turn it off then restart it. It jerks really hard when driving it. The oil pressure low stop engine message comes on. It just has a lot of electrical problems and the mechanic told me the other Impalas like mine are having either all the same problems or some of the same problems. Recall.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

While driving my car for only two minutes, the reduced power sensor came on and traction control came on also. My car would not go above 20 mph. Went back to normal after an hour. Very concerning if I was on the interstate when this happened. Was on a back country highway when this happened.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2016

Traction control and the stability trac reduces the engine speed under normal weather conditions drastically without any warnings. Been acting up for some time. Dealers don't know what the problem is and doesn't give a code. Very dangerous and frustrating.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2016

I started see a warning light on in my car that read "engine power is reduced, service traction control" so I sent gm an email regarding this and maybe a month or so later I received a notice that said the gas throttle sensor will cause this to appear when it is bad. They advised if I felt this was the problem I could take it to a gm dealer and have it check, but if it wasn't they would not cover it and I would be responsible for the cost of the diagnostics test. I took my car and took my car , along with the notice to sunrise pontiac on 12/31/15. I was told that I needed a thermostat a gas pressure sensor. The cost to repair these items would run me almost $900 and I could not afford that t this time. I asked the technician, which could I get away with not fixing right now and he said I needed to go ahead and replace the thermostat to get the check engine light off. I had that work done and the light still was on, as well as, the warning lights. So I contacted gm again and advised them of the situation. They paid for me to go to serra Chevrolet to get another diagnostic done. This time I was told I needed an app sensor, gas pressure sensor, thermostat (which had already been replaced), and a temperature sensor, all of which would run me $1300. I told them I could not afford that and left. I contacted gm once again and explained what was told to me and asked why the sensors would not be covered when they were apart of the gas throttle body? now I'm getting a warning that says "starting disabled service throttle " and my car is literally cutting off while I'm driving. I feel like this is a matter that gm should be willing to repair for their consumers to prevent accident or death. I 've read on google that several Impala owners are experiencing the same thing. Also, while I'm driving my gear control is popping out. This is my only means of transportation.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2016

2006-2009 Chevrolet Impala ss ticking noise, engine misfire and/or ses light. This may be the result of an afm (active fuel management for displacement-on-demand) lifter that unlocks as soon as the engine is started or one that is mechanically collapsed/stuck. If an afm lifter unlocks as soon as the engine is started, a ses light and dtc p0300 will be experienced with engine misfires on cylinder 1, 4, 6 or 7 but it is unlikely that any noise will be experienced. If an afm lifter is mechanically collapsed/stuck, a consistent valvetrain tick noise, ses light and dtc p0300 will be experienced with engine misfires on cylinder 1, 4, 6 or 7.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2015

My daughter was driving my car on a city street. She stopped at a stop light and as she was preparing to accelerate the check engine light came on and a warning message flashed stating (engine power reduced). My daughter stated that the car would only get up to 40 mph and rpm gauge would not go pass 2, even when she pressed the gas pedal down to the floor. She had to drive the car for 10 miles in fear that the car was going to stop in the middle of the city street while in transit. She finally made it home. However, the car speed remained at 40 mph; despite her attempts to increase the speed. After 2 hours had passed, I started the car-the check engine light was off and when I drove I was able to drive faster than 40 mph. After driving around the block, the check engine came back on. I contacted onstar for an engine diagnostic- the result was that the powertrain system has failed- a malfunction of the electronic throttle control system. After I received that message, I checked on line for a recall- I discovered several similar problems with 2008 Chevrolet Impalas- only the government issued vehicles with similar problems were recalled. Why??? this is a very serious issue/concern/problem. Will it take multiple tragic car accidents before a recall for this specific problem? my car has approximately 128,000 miles- and in the complaints, I noticed a complaint that had the same mileage documented. I'm terrified to drive my car for any distant and I'm also concerned about the price of the repair. I recently had a tune-up at serra Chevrolet in madison, TN (oct. 2015)that cost me over $600. 00. Supposedly, the fuel injection system was serviced. I wondering why I have this problem. I strongly feel that gm needs to recall this model vehicle along with the 2008 malibu for this problem.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2015

While driving my vehicle, I went to make a left hand turn and the traction control service message apeard along with abs lite and engine reduction causeing my vehicle to almost stall out on a major highway.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2015

Stopped during out-of-state trip and then esc sensor lite came on and car would only go 20 mph. Gm dealer in nashville not much help. Repeated pushing of tc/esc button finally cleared fault. Now hesitant to drive this car. Last gm car that I will ever own.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2015

While driving my car my car stalled as if it was in neutral. I stopped and tried to put the car in park, but nothing happened. I tried reverse and the car wouldn't move. It crakes up but there are no shifting of gears. I had to replace my gas tank as well as my pedals for this car. Please help.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2015

(reduced engine power) my 2008 chevy Impala randomly shows down after the dash reads reduced engine power. I am lucky to be alive I was doing about 60 on the expressway and the car speed just dropped to 20mph I had to swerve because the car behind could not slow down in time. My two year old was in the car and I hear that gm cars have this problem all the time. This is ridiculously dangerous someone has to do something about it. The gm dealership has no ideal how to fix this.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that there was a random failure with the service stability link, service stability traction control and the service engine warning lights illuminating frequently and then there was a drastic reduction in speed with no warning. The contact had to pull the vehicle off the road each time the failure recurred, turn off the vehicle to reset the computer and restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop who was not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and was to be taken to a dealer for inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000. Dyd.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

While I was driving my car, about to accelerate, all of a sudden, a "service traction control" message came on and seconds after that, there was a "engine power is reduced" message. At this point there was some hesitation in the vehicle. I pulled over and shut the car off. When I turned the car on, after 2 minutes, I received the same message. I took the vehicle to my mechanic, and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I called my locale gm dealer and for a "nominal" charge, they would take a look at it. Since then, I have researched it on line, and have found that there have been numerous complaints about the same issue. It is a shame that gm has done nothing to fix this. I'm glad I was not on the highway when this happened, as the loss of speed and lack of acceleration could have caused an accident.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2015

Traction control needs service message displayed, then throttle disabled message displayed shutting the engine off going down the road. So therefor no power steering, brakes etc . Once pulled onto shoulder car would not crank. Had to wait five minutes until the gauges flickered and then car was able to be restarted. This is highly dangerous if not where to pull off or being followed closely. Not to mention not power steering assist or brake assist. This could very easily cause a crash and there for should be a recall issued before people are injured or killed by this!.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2015

I was driving on interstate 81 in cny when my dash lit up and said "service traction control, reduce engine power" at that point my car would not down shift to accelerate. About 15 miles down the road my car said "service throttle control sensor", and the engine shut off!!! I was just coming out of a huge work zone and I lost power steering and power brakes in the left lane of a 3 lane highway. I made my way to the shoulder as safely as I could and was unable to restart my car for at least 5 minutes!!!!!! 3 days later it did it all over again on a country road thankfully!!. I remember the reduce engine power service traction control had acted up once before in 2012 right after I bought the car. This needs to be recalled immediately before someones engine shuts off when they are going faster than 45!!!!!!.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

All 4 doors lock and unlock intermittently when pressing on fob or button on door. Has been happening for a few years. Noticed this is a very common issue on 2008 & 2009 Impala models, very expensive fix.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

Case # 71-1461945158 our rear tires are wearing out twice as fast as the front tires. I went to costco yesterday to have my tires rotated, after looking at the rear tires we had to buy new ones because the back tires were worn down to the metal backing. . There had been a service bulletin sent out in 2011 to replace the spindle rods on all the 2007 and 2008 Impala's that were sold as police cars to fix this problem that they were having with rear tire wear. I would like to see that service bulletin extended all the other 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala's. This is a major safety problem and people are going to be killed if this problem is not fixed you just don't expect the tires to wear out so fast. We had just finished a trip were we drove freeway speeds up to 75 miles an hour. After seeing our tires I don't know how we keep from having a blow out on the back tires.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

The issue with my 2008 Impala is a well documented problem with this particular make. The car reduces power at highway speeds and the abs and service traction lights stay on. There does not seem to be a fix for the issue. I actually would like to form a class action lawsuit against gm to have this recalled. Only govt. Issued vehicles were recalled. Along with police models. I was traveling on an interstate in 9/7/15 when my speed suddenly dropped. This is a serious and can be fatal issue for a number of models and years. Please advise of pursuing the suit.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2014

On this day I was driving normal speed, climate and roadway was dry and free of debris. The traction control light came on and the car began to shift hard when accelerating after a stop. Today, January 5, 2015 while operating under normal speed and dry climate the check engine light came on along with traction control, which has remained on since the initial incident. The car began jerking and the engine shut off while traveling at a rate of 40mph. I was almost hit by the vehicle behind me, however thankfully managed to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. My children were in the car with me. I shut the car off in hopes that the lights would reset, but they did not. I have contacted gm and in my opinion they couldn't care less about this issue. I have researched several online forums and see that this appears to be an issue with many Impala owners. A few even stated they had wrecked their vehicles due to the engine shutting down while experiencing the exact same issues. Why has this issue not been addressed? I see reports dating back to 2010. The same danger that warranted an ignition switch recall is happening in these cases as well, these cars are shutting off while being driven.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2014

Out of no where while driving the display says "engine power reduced" and then switches to "service traction control". I have limited power, the check engine light comes on and so does the traction control light. I can drive the car to where I am going, but no acceleration.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

When I started my vehicle, the service traction control message appeared. Also, the check engine light and reduced engine power message. During my drive to work I could not go beyond 40mph or 2rpm.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2014

So im drving down the expressway i57 at about 85mph and the car beeps 3 times displaying service stabilatrack/ service traction and check engine seconds later the car completely cut off. While in traffic.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

While driving my car on the freeway suddenly the check traction control light came on and there was reduced engine power. I was traveling at a rate of 75 mph and quickly went down to 45 - 50 mph causing a 3 car rear collision.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

I was driving to work going about 60 mph on the beltway and the traction control light came on and then the notification light said that the engine speed was reduced check traction control. I couldn't go past 40 mph. I made it to work and parked the car. I went back 8 and half hours later thinking it wasn't going to start or I wasn't going to be able to get home. I started the car and was fine. I haven't had the issue since. Of course I researched and this is an ongoing issue with this car. Hopefully there will be a recall. It is a shame that people have to pay money to fix things that many are having issues with. Apparently, it is the travel pedal sensor. So now I have to fix the travel pedal sensor and get the key from being stuck in the ignition. Another complaint made today by separate entry.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

Service traction control/engine power reduced lights came on dash. Car lost all power and when stomping the gas pedal speed would resume, very hesitant from a dead stop. Car was jerking, shut off traction control and car jerked then too. Gm needs to fix this before there are deaths. Also I have no unlocking doors. They have to all be manually unlocked. Battery was replaced in car and on key fab. Gas pedal sensor and throttle body sensor are the triggered codes, gm needs to find the real solution as these don't seem to fix problem.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

This is the second incident we have had with our 2008 Chevrolet Impala where this problem has occurred. The most recent incident was on Wednesday may 21st, around 730 pm. My wife was driving on a road with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour, she said she was going about 48 when the traction control light came on, and the messaging system indicated "reduced engine power. " when this happens the vehicle slows rather rapidly, and then it is impossible to accelerate beyond about 30 miles per hour or so. Due to the rapid decline in speed and the fact that this occurs without warning, I believe this should be an immediately acted upon problem. I contacted gm only to be told that I have to take it to get it looked at by one of their local dealerships, and pay for that diagnostic. In my online research I have discovered many, probably in the hundreds, who've experienced this identical issue. Some of which have take their car to gm who has concluded according to post of experiences on edmunds that they were unable to determine the source of the problem or repair it. This is a problem that require immediate attention. I can't imagine how differently this could have gone should my wife have been going 75 mph on interstate 80. We live along I-80 and travel it frequently. However as a result of this problem we are essenitally unable to trust our vehicle beyond about 50 miles per hour.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

This vehicle has been recalled due to air bags, and in a year no one has been able to get the repairs done to the vehicle. But furthermore the car has several other mechanical issues that I am showing as a trend with Impalas being that my sister and cousin have one also in different years, the car makes a ticking noise when the air or heat is turned on the passenger side delivers opposite temp as the driver so if air is on the passenger will deliver heat and vice versa. If the car goes over a speed bump the engine reduces power and service stabilitrak appears across the lighting as well as the car dropping out of gear if I go over any bump. This is very dangerous especially being that my children and I were in this car and it decided to do this on the interstate at night in 70 mph traffic. After doing research on the vehicle I am showing that I am not the only person with all of these problems listed, and it bothers me that none of these issues have been recalled just as the air bags were even though I think the recall, is just to save face because no one is actually doing the work to get them fixed. At first I thought these things were just mechanical problems with age of car but after research these are issues that are in cars made in this time frame and warrants a recall for the safety of consumers.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

I was driving at highway speed (60 mph) on a two lane road. Temperature was below freezing, no ice or snow. Suddenly a bell sounded, the "service traction control" blinked on the display, the traction light came on, and then the vehicle suddenly reduced power, and "engine power reduced" displayed alternately with the "service traction control" warning. I was scared, but had about 8 miles to drive to my home town. I pulled to the shoulder at about 40 mph, turned on my flashers, and continued on to my home. If this had happened with ice on the road, as there had been that morning on my way to work, a crash would no doubt have occurred as these roads are very slippery in winter.
