The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light was intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the brake pads were partially dragging against the rotors while driving. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v085000 (parking brake) and 15v465000 (air bags); as a possible cause for the failures; however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,547.
I was in a car accident and the airbags did not deploy.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat belt audible chime was sounded, and the message "air bag on" was displayed while the front passenger's side seat was unoccupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the calibration-learning error was corrected by preconditioning the empty seat and resetting the seat zero-value in the electronic control unit. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v465000 (air bags); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided because the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
On 11/20/2024, the Chevrolet dealership diagnosed the problem as a short in the passenger presence sensor airbag module under the passenger seat. For more than a year, the airbag warning light has almost always been on. On just a few occasions in the past year or two, the airbag light has turned off, usually corresponding with a change in the humidity. I understand that there was a recall for this very same (moisture-related) airbag problem in other gm vehicles some years ago. I think we have the exact same problem here, and that my car should be included in the recall. Note well, this year there was an airbag recall covering a 2007 Nissan versa, a much older car. It seems that airbag recalls can apply to cars 18 years old.
My vehicle is exhibiting the exact conditions outlined in the NHTSA bulletin 15400a: the front-passenger airbag status light will indicate that the airbag is "on" when the passenger seat is not occupied or is occupied by an infant. Additionally, the front-passenger seat's safety-belt warning light and chime may turn on when the passenger seat is not occupied and the seatbelt is not buckled. If the vehicle is involved in a crash that causes the front-passenger airbag to deploy and an infant is in the front-passenger seat, the airbag deployment may injure the child.
Air bags did not deploy in an automotive collision.
This car has exactly the same issues as reported in 15v465000 but Chevrolet refuses to acknowledge that this VIN should have been in their recall. The aos systems in this Impala is improperly calibrated. My child in the front seat could be seriously injured. Chevrolet themselves verified this 2014 Impala has front vented-heated passenger seats. They still refuse to help in any way. This car does not turn the front passenger airbag on and off when it detects (or fails to detect) an adult occupant in that seat.
Passenger airbag lights stays on even when its no one in the seat, also the blind side warning does not work with the already know defective sensors. Need fix to ensure my safety of me and my family.
The air bags from the passenger is not on. The button on top turns on when a passenger sits .
Multiple electric concerns. . . Airbag light, park assist, inop camera, and losing communication with bcm(?) found multiple communication codes for a variety of different modules. Found main source to be from the "side detection modules". Found fuse 62 blown underhood. Inspected side detection modules and found "a lot of corrosion" on both modules and connectors. Needs side detection kit. I purchased the used Impala on 12/19/2020 with 63,897 miles. The first time this issue was a concern was on 07/02/2022 at merit Chevrolet (mn). Mileage was at 83144 at that time. Diagnosis . . . Recommend both rear side detection modules and harness? according to special coverage adjustment #n172097060 it is known to be subject to "water intrusion"? this problem affects the whole electrical system which includes airbag function. Why does this safety concern have a limited coverage time? according to the "special coverage" document, there was an 80000 mile timeline? this appears to be an ongoing issue with this year, make, and model and my feeling is that a "special coverage" is denying the safety problem and putting it on the consumer?.
Gm had sent a letter in March 2020 about a known defect with the passenger presence module that wires could become disconnected over time, leading to a service airbag message and the passenger airbag failing to deploy when commanded. Gm stated that they would provide additional protection (read extended warranty) on this condition to be repaired at no cost within 8 years of the date the vehicle was placed in service or 80000 miles, whichever was first. My 2014 Impala just had this issue occur on July 4, 2021, and when requesting gm to perform this repair at no cost for me (vehicle mileage is 77000 miles), gm stated that this extended warranty ended January 2021. This date does not match the 8 years called out in the letter they sent, as the general public couldn't even buy this vehicle until April 1, 2013 at the very earliest. Gm refuses to pay for the fix of a known defect within a critical safety system on one of their vehicles due to a poor design. Conveniently, this issue occurred on my Impala ~1-2 months after the supposed end of coverage date, even though there is nothing documenting why this date was chosen or any data that supports that this issue will only occur inside of the quoted extended warranty window in the letter. Gm needs to issue a recall on this rather than an extended warranty that doesn't cover a known defect within their design/manufacturing.
My dashboard reads, service air bag. Everytime I turn it on as of this morning. 6/23/21 @ 1pm central time. I've read about the recall on these models as well of air bags deploying and throwing pieces of metal at drivers. Cause of molded air bag housing.
Hello, I have a general question about vehicle safety as it relates to automobile recalls/safety bulletins for Chevrolet. I own a Chevrolet vehicle and have found out that there are 2 issues with my car, one of them directly related to airbags and them deploying correctly. Chevrolet has only issued a safety bulletin, and has set ridiculous limits to what they are required to cover. I want to know how the dot has not required them to issue a recall to fix the issue on their cost. With this being related to safety I would have thought this was a very important matter. I would be happy to speak further on this. Feel free to email me back, and if someone would be willing to speak on that as well. Thanks.
Light on air bag.
Originally my blind zone detection was the only thing popping up on my dashboard but my car and functions ran find except the detection feature. . But then codes like airbag, traction control, abs, front camera, parking asssistant appeared all over my dash board and then the radio, heating system, speedometer, rpm, gas and heating gage all stopped working. I checked online and these seems to be a huge problem that gm should be responsible for!! the dealership expects me to pay 1300 this is not far only had this car for a year and half smh please push for a recall it's not safe to be driving with air bags not working or turning signals not work. . .
Car started smoking from the bumper area and electrical system going nuts. Car was sluggish and acting weird. All gauges and instrument panel going off and on. Door locks locking and unlocking. Cruise enable then disable. Infotainment system screen glitching out. Took to dealership they said the side detection module and wiring harness is bad where it got wet. The location leaves it exposed to water from the roadway and can cause fire hazard. Very dangerous and scary driving down the road and all this happens on the highway.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact received an extended warranty campaign for the side blind monitoring system however the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded due to the mileage. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer yet. The manufacturer was notified and provided no assistance. The contact was uncertain if a failure may progress. Dyd.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 30 mph, the abs light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed and replaced the left magnetic ring, which had detached from the vehicle. While driving approximately 30 mph again, the abs light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer who diagnosed and replaced the passenger side hub assembly, which fell off. The vehicle was fully repaired. The failure mileage was 41,500.
Heavy rain. Skidded on pavement (black top) hit concreat utility pole, air bad did not deploy, hit nose on steering wheel.
I purchased my new 2014 Chevrolet Impala from hawthorne Chevrolet in hawthorne, n. J. Some four (4) months ago. I am the sole owner and driver of this vehicle. Last week (around September 11, 2013) I noticed a crack in the vinyl toward the right of the gold colored Chevrolet bow tie positioned in the center of the steering wheel area. The crack is a semi-circular line that has a slight depression to the immediate left of the crack. I immediately drove it to the hawthorne Chevrolet and the very next day, they replaced the steering wheel air bag for me. This part includes the "rigid" black surface vinyl where you activate the horn. The horn takes an extraordinary amount of pressure to activate to make a sound due to the rigidity of the vinyl--where the horn icons (I. E. , the raised "trumpets") are is extremely non yielding--in my opinion. I left the dealership after the replacement air bag was installed and 1/10 of a mile away, I noticed the slight depression and line demarcation already. Hawthorne Chevrolet's service director told me to return the following day and after a 2-1/2 hour wait the service director and a mechanic walked me out to another 2014 Chevrolet Impala and stated that all of their Impalas are like this. I am worried about unpredictable steering wheel air bag deployment, difficulty in sounding my horn as I do much of my traveling on a busy/dangerous highway, and I worry about future/continued cracking of that vinyl surface covering where I am told by hawthorne Chevrolet's service director is where the air bag deploys. Again. . . The car is only 4 months old with only 2,200 miles when this cracking first occurred. I am worried that where this crack is located the air bag could exit. I contacted Chevrolet's national customer service and there are 2 active service request numbers relating to the crack and the horn sounding matter.
