Failure Date: 04/24/2025

I have push to start car. On my lunch I starting my car and I immediately notice the rpm went to 2500, which is high and it went up to 3000 and then the warning light flashed stability track error and check engine and swerving light I took a pic. I turn car off and wait a few min turned car back on and it was fine. No errors drove to get lunch and back no issues. Then on leaving work s ame thing happened but the error didn't go away. I was able to shift out of gear. Hard knocking, gear shifter light all white no clue what gear it was in I moved to another parking spot but was slow moving very delayed. Parked and now waiting for tow truck.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

Side detection system failure. I have had 3 harness replacements on driver side. 2 harness replacements on passenger side, and a module replacement just 2 years ago. This failure causes my instrumentation to shut off, turn signals not work, and shuts off cruise control when in use. I have read outher more extreme cases like engine compartment fires or car shutting off while driving. I believe all these should be considered safety issues. I have owned this vehicle since new.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2024

Unknown but I believe the sealed transmission is malfunctioning.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

When at a stop and turning left it makes a grinding noise with hesitation in movement. The abs and traction control light comes on. When researching this, there are millions of these cars with the same thing. I have taken to 3 mechanics and no one can fix the problem.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2023

There is a current recall on chevy Impalas with the trans mod control system but my VIN number is not apart of the recall but my car is doing everything that recalls states. The recall number is 14v614000. The recall date 10-01-2014. My vehicle is 2014 and I have only had it for 2 years.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

I've gotten my stabiltrac serviced and it came back on.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

The electronic parking brake fails to disengage entirely from the rear brake pads causing them to become welded together. This results in extreme heat, excess brake dust, poor acceleration, and caliper / brake line (air) issues.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2021

The 2014 chevy Impala is dangerous. When the rocker arm control valve and related parts fail or the camshaft solenoids and sensors fail the car will drive rough and eventually just cut off in the middle of traffic highway or residential. This is what it did on me, putting me in a very dangerous position. The economic loss is still devastating financially as all 2. 5 and 3. 6 engines arent covered by gm special warranty but they should be all covered. My VIN number was not included when it should be.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2021

It was a recall issued in 2014 for stabilitrak for bad grounds on my chevy Impala and I went to chevy about it and paid for the diagnostics to check and they told me it was the transmission that I needed. Also, the paper doesn't tell me I needed a transmission fixed, so I took it to 3 different transmission shops and they said it was the ground that was bad. But I was not paying for it and it was a recall issued in 2014 that is happening and is happening to several others as well. I called the gm and asked if its anything they can do about it since it was unde recall they are saying no. And the I have to go pay for diagnostics again so they can see what it is because it may not be same and I did before and chevy said it was the transmission and the other shops said the transmission is in great shape it was the grounds thats bad and that if the issue was under a recall it should be done again. I take this as safety issue and it puts me and my family in danger and it is my only transportation . So I have my son picking me for work.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

I was riding on the highway doing 60mph when my car reduced speed to 34mph and the check engine light came on along with a stabilitrak warning blinking. I also had a bit of shake in my vehicle when it came on and slowed down.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

While driving on city streets and the highway, the stablitrax lights come on then service indicators displays: service stablitrax, front camera, and power steering. The car slows down significantly and the power steering then locks up until you dismiss all of the codes. Then you can hear a clicking that sounds like the car is trying to restart. It happens sporadically. I took it to a shop and he stated to check for recalls because there have been quite a few Impalas being brought in for the same reason. I contacted chevy and they stated that there are no known recalls for my make and model.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

Stabilitrack has been messing up since I purchased this vehicle in October 2018. My car is scary to drive. Sometimes its not clear what gear I'm in. The car will not go over 5 miles per hour when the stabilitrack is messing up. The backup camera does not work when the stabilitrack light is on and sometimes it will not go in reverse. I have to wait and keep turning the car off then wait then try to start it. Stabilitrack needs a recall. I could not back out of my parking spot this morning because of the stabilitrack. It feels like the whole motor moved when I tried to reverse. There were no lights on the panel to know what gear I was in but it wad clear it skipped the reverse. When it finaly let me back up after turning the car on and off several times I could only eccelerate 3 miles per hour.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

Blind spot detection system began to fail, indicated by the side mirror indicators remaining on even after the car was shut off. Dealer service center diagnostic test showed the battery was old. The problem progressed to the point where the instrument cluster would also fail - all instruments (speedometer, tachometer, etc. ) would go dead, virtually all warning lights (traction control, abs, air bag, etc. ) would go on, heating system (including blower) would go dead and turn signals and hazard light would be inoperative. All of this would happen while driving, whether in city traffic or at highway speeds. Although the main operation of the vehicle has not yet been affected, there is no way to signal other drivers of a problem (no hazard light or turn signals) in the event of a larger failure. Research of online customer forums shows that this problem is common with the latest generation (2014 and newer) Impala. The blind spot detection system is connected to the instrument cluster and this occurs randomly while driving.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2019

Car lost power and engine went out. Stability track in on.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2018

While driving at any speed the instrument cluster will completely die out. Blinkers not functioning. Seems like some sort of short. Also blind spot alert not working , forward facing camera, park assist.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2018

While driving on a rural road approaching a sharp curve my vehicle's control panel began to display service power steering drive with care and service stabilitrack messages respectively; immediately thereafter I began to experience difficulty with steering.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

Today is the second time in 6 months that my car has done this. 2014 chevy Impala 62,000 miles, 4 cylinder. I was driving on the highway at 65 miles an hour and first the "service stabilitrak" warning comes up. Then the "engine power reduced" warning appears. The engine will not go above 20 mph at this point. This is very dangerous especially if you are on the highway at speeds of 65 and suddenly you have no power! I took it to my mechanic who could find nothing wrong with the car. He told me to pull over and shut the car off and restart it. I did that and the check engine light is on but I did get my engine power back. I'm terrified driving this car. Someone is going to get killed in this situation. I read all over the internet about this same problem and nothing is being done about it. This should be a recall!.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

Driving to work and all the emergency lights on my dashboard came on for no reason. The speedometer, tachometer, gas gauge, temperature gauge, radio and heater/ac controls and turn signals quit working. Additional warning lights on dashboard we're stabiltrac, abs, air bag, tire monitor and brake light. Previous to this we had problems with the blind spot monitor system not functioning. The car has been at the dealership now for about 5 weeks with no answer. They currently have 3 other Impalas with the same problem. We live in a town of under 10,000 people so what are the odds that we are the only ones. Sorry I do not have access to my VIN number at this time.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2017

I was driving on the expressway going 65 miles an hour and suddenly my car without warning went way down to 15 and car was saying loss of engine power I was very afraid I also had my 3 year old in the car we were early rear ended by I semi I pulled to the emergency lane and shut the car off waited 10 minutes started it up and all lights were off the car drove fine for 10 o 15 minutes and then it started again this time the power never came back.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2016

On 12/21/16 while merging onto interstate 10 in tucson, az, the vehicle was going approximately 65 mph when a "engine power reduced" sign popped up, the vehicle slowed down to 30 mph without warning and shifting down through all gears nearly red lining the rpms and causing an rear-end collision. Was able to move the vehicle off the freeway and took it into local auto-zone for testing. The test came back as a "throttle sensor malfunction". The vehicle now doesn't feel safe to drive, and will not accelerate over 45 mph without shaking and feeling like the transmission is going to give out. Called the local chevy dealership and was told the cost was going to vary between $400-1,000 with a $100 test fee up front. I've also read numerous similar issues online from people driving Chevrolet Impala from 2006-2016. The car feel very unsafe to drive and I feel it could be a death trap as there is no control over when the vehicle will choose to decelerate without warning. There has been no mechanical issues before this incident, and the vehicle has been through numerous mechanical maintenance up-keeps that were recommended by service managers.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

My Impala 2014 suddenly says 'service stabilitrak' in the display and the engine power drastically reduces. I have see this in forums that is a common issue with gm cars and it happened to me couple of times. This is a very dangerous issue when happens at freeways or any faster traffic routes.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

On a couple of different occasions I have been stopped at a stoplight or stop sign. When the gas pedal is pressed to accelerate, there is hesitation by the vehicle to accelerate causing the vehicle's act of acceleration to occur separately from the act of pressing the gas pedal.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2014

When decelerating at a red light which turned green, attempted to accelerate with no throttle response, even when pushed to the floor for approximately 2 seconds or more (several similar incidents). Second incident, car stalled at a slow speed. Third incident, after accelerating the engine rpms stay reving high after taking foot off the gas for several seconds, and this has happened on several occasions and as recently as 9-16-15. These incidents all occured before and after a complete gm dealer reprogrammed the computer.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle surged with hesitation. The failure recurred whenever traveling at the speed of 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the vehicle functioned as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. The VIN was unavailable.
