37 Seat Belt problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/12/2018

My service airbag sensor light had been on since I purchased my car a year ago, I am going to sell it but I didn't want to sell it with something that has to do with safety being questionable. I drove it to auto nation yesterday June 11th to see if it was a recall. They said there hasn't been one. I drove it home and started searching online for possible problems with it and there were so many posts about this issue. I searched under the passenger seat because that's what I read to do and low and behold all types of wires under it are completely severed and torn up. I was going to fix this myself but I really don't want to be held liable in case of accident or injury. This must be fixed and it's my belief that it's caused by the vehicle design. Please hold Chevrolet responsible for this repair as it is very dangerous for both the passenger and possibly everyone else in the vehicle. Thank you very much for looking into this. I also believe that when a person calls a dealer telling then exactly what they found d (I called lenlyle on colfax and sable in aurora, CO. And explained to then my findings and they told me that I would have to pay for this repair. They should direct a person to you guys when something that has to do with safety is found to be defective. This should be a requirement that they contact you dot as well as offer a repair imediately and consider themselves lucky that someone wasn't killed because a person came to them with the problem instead of trying to do the repair themselves.

44 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

On March 23, 2017 I was putting on my seat beat when all of a sudden I noticed it was no longer attached to the side of the drivers seat. I noticed that the aluminum cable , which has smaller strands of wire in the middle of it had totally broken from its base. The cable was no longer usable, therefore the vehicles drivers seatbelt could not secure the driver. I cannot tell you what caused this to happen. Possible bad design of the seat belt or metal fatigue come to my mind. The 2016 Chevrolet Impala only has a little over 25,000 miles on it. This seat belt breaking has me very concerned, not knowing if this will happen again in the near future even with the seat belt being replaced under warranty. I also know , being a retired law enforcement officer that there are a lot of Chevrolet Impalas being driver by officers out there along with other Chevrolet police cars and pick up trucks. In fact, I learned while at the dealership that the same problem has happened to the silverado pick up truck, according to one of the employees working there. Had this happened in a frontal or side impact, I am sure that I would have not been able to remain in my seat. I also had this happen in my 2014 Chevrolet Impala and the same separation of the seat belt from the side of the seat happened when I was rear ended at a traffic light . The seat belt was probably ready to break anyway, but the accident finished the task of it breaking. Chevrolet knew of this, but again the same style seatbelt that was in my 2014 Impala was in my 2016 Impala. I asked for the seatbelt parts of this fix, but the service folks at wallace Chevrolet said they would be sending them to someone to look at I noticed them that I would be writing you and to make sure the seatbelt can be viewed by other folks beyond the Chevrolet team if needed.

Wiper stopped working while driving on expressway on heavy rain there is no power from fuse to wiper have checked everything possible . Seatbelt sometimes doesnt lock on passenger side and sometimes it comes off on its own knocking noise in front dash board and it seems like there are too many problems with these chevy unbelievable but no recalls. Refuse to recommend chevy cars to anyone!.

47 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/13/2016

"takata recall" - service air bags warning just recently came up on my dashboard when driving. Passenger side seat belt sounds off, and flashes to fasten seat belt when there is no passenger is in the car, and the air bag panel flicks on and off consistently. When I open the drivers door, there a tapping like sound starts and continues for five to six seconds and then stops. When I push the heat and air levers, it stops. When I turn on the air or heat, it will make the tapping noise and stop after a short while. The noise seem to be getting louder. When the car is sitting in the heat or when in the car just sitting and the car not turned on, the same tapping noise will occur. The noise sounds like a wood pecker sound. It sound like it is located in the cooling system area, close by the dashboard area.

50 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

I am informing you of some very serious concerns in regards to parts of the 07 and 08 chevy Impala that have failed causing accidents as well as injury and grave potential for fatalities. Airbags not deploying, seat belts not locking on impact first and foremost I have requested copies of the paperwork that was submitted to the courts in somerset WI. This showed exactly what took place causeing an accident that was considered negligent due to medications I was on and my disability. The mechanic gave me this report along with info stating that this was a huge problem in fleet police vehicals. The info stated that the police vehicals were fixed and checked however this part has no recall or revision to correct the safety issues that we can find. My vehical does have high millage however it has been very well taken care of thanks to erickson oil and mechanic friends. This part snapping after cracking esily resulted in complete loss of control as well as the car locking up and becoming impossible to steer and stop. It is disturbing that these parts were not corrected from a manufactering aspect (this was looked at by a machinest, as well as an engineer and by the qaulity/dimesions/structure this part easily looked defective) the visual as well as skilled aproach to problem solving drove us to look up recalls prior to buying a new part. We could not find any. Just info that this exact make and model were purchased as fleet vehicals in 07 and 08. Problems with many of these cars resulted in pulling all of the fleet/govnt patrol cars in to be fixed/investigated. However we have been unable to find a recall or warning that should have also been issued to the public. I am currently looking into help to investigate and help get this looked at as it caused an accident as well as being unstable and faulty in another minor impact accident potentiaaly increasing fatality/injuries.

60 Seat Belt problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/27/2015

The driver seat belt is sticking and will not latch. If you do get it to latch it will unlatch with the slightest movement. I took the vehicle to the dealership to have it looked at. They told me the technician was unable to get the latch unstuck. They told me it was a faulty mechanism and that it would need to be replaced, but they do not just replace the latch, they would have to replace the latch and the entire seat belt assembly with the tensioner. However they did not have this item in stock and they would have to order it and I would have to bring the vehicle back for the repairs. In the mean time I am driving with a faulty seat belt that is not only a safety issue but a legal issue. I must wear my seatbelt - it is the law. But unfortunately it will not latch.

66 Seat Belt problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/28/2014

To whom it may concern: I am writing this letter on behalf of my parents for the great abuse that has been done to them. About 3 years ago they were really excited because for the first time in there life after living here for close to 40 years they would have bought a car from a dealership! a fairly new car, first car from a local agency in madera. The name of the dealer: madera Chrysler Jeep Dodge. They sold my parents a defective from the beginning. They knew about the recalls since 10/13/2010 and 05/25/2010 this was before they even purchased the car 11/26/2011. They are doing unlawful sales to vulnerable poor customers and are not in compliance. According to general motors it is and was completely the car dealerships responsibility to fix these recalls (please see attached list of recalls). Their solution is to well purchase a new car from them. They still have our car and have made no intent to fix it. Please help us put a stop to this bad and corrupt sales manager who takes advantage of hispanic latinos who don’t read or speak spanish. There are many families at risk who might buy a car that is defective and there can be a horrible catastrophe or death. Sincerely, maria rodriguez.
