One problem related to air brake wheel speed sensor has been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet K1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 1999 chevy silverado K1500 extended cab. I bought it in the summer of 2002. By January of 2003, I began having trouble with the abs kicking in when is was slowing down to a stop. The roads were not wet or slippery and I almost went into traffic several times (I have also almost hit a parked car pulling in a parking space, and almost went over a steep embankment since then). I paid over $300 in February 2003 to have them fixed and that lasted until February of 2004. When I almost went over the steep embankment at my local grocery store when I was pulling into a parking space, I decided to pull the fuse. The only problem with this is that you don't have cruise any longer. I finally decided I had to get it fixed because we wanted the cruise feature so I got it fixed in December of 2004. By that time, the Chevrolet dealers are finding out there is a problem and they just need to clean out the sensor which now costs about $75 (the dealership I bought the truck from wouldn't even admit there was a problem). The big problem is that I do not know when they will give me problems again and I am still a little afraid to drive my truck. I have 2 young children and I would hate to be in an accident and hurt them because of something that chevy knows about and refuses to deal with. I have been checking online, and I have noticed a lot of people are having the same problem. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed before someone loses their life over it.
