While driving air bag light became illuminated. Have not contacted dealership.
Intermittently air bag light stays illuminated when driving. Consumer had it checked. Dealer stated it would be an expensive repair. Dealer hasn't taken it back to have it fixed.
The air bag light came on and we took it in to the dealer to be looked at and hopefully corrected. We received a $104 charge to tell us that the air bag would cost $710 to fix. No accident or fast stop ever occurred, but now we are concerned that the air bag could go off at anytime while driving or if we needed it to, it wouldn't deploy. The other proplem is with the fuel injectors that we had to have replaced at 41,000 miles (about 1 1/2 yrs. Ago) and one is bad again as well as an sis, pcm, and a sensing module. We are questioning the quality of this product if these repairs are required at this point. We paid close to $800 to have the first injectors replaced and are now faced with a bill of $527 for one injector, sis, pcm, and a sensing module. The warranty had recently gone off when the injectors had gone bad the first time.
Airbag indicator light on instrument cluster always on, indicating that airbag is non-operational. Dealer cited a technical service bulletin on service order, but repairs quoted to be paid by owner. Problem is related to high resistance in the wiring harness for the airbag. I have talked with other owners of 1997 Lumina's who have had the same problem (people I work with). This is too common of a problem to be left as a TSB. This should be corrected (recall or otherwise). I have a complaint with Chevrolet customer service as well (complaint file #990567661) if the airbag is non-operational because of this, any passenger riding in my vehicle is not protected by a supposed safety feature for which insurance companies provide discounts. I have noticed a single airbag TSB across many 1997 Chevrolet models in my online searches. I think this is an extremely widespread problem that should be addressed.
Air bag lights stays on, the dealer cleared connection, cleared codes and also replaced passenger side module but the lightis still on .
