Front Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet Lumina

My Chevrolet Lumina rear ended another vehichle at approximately 15 mph neither airbag deployed. Substantial front end damage, but no injuries.

Vehicle ran off the road at 50-60 mph as consumer swerved to avoid a animal. Vehicle hit the ditch, then rolled 2-3 times. Neither airbag deployed. Driver hit his head on the windshield and suffered facial injuries. Vehicle was totalled. Ts.

Vehicle hit a deer at 35-40 mph, neither airbag deployed. Bumper was cracked and both headlights destroyed. Damage was $ 450. 00.

On Sunday January 27, 2002 I was involved in an accident as a result to a problem with the brakes on my 1997 Chevrolet Lumina LS model 4-door sedan that could have resulted in serious injury or death. About a week and half before the accident I knew I was having a problem with the vehicle stopping and I brought it to the original dealer where the vehicle was purchased at hurd Buick-Chevrolet-pontiac-GMC trucks located in johnston, ri 02919, and had them look at the brake system of the vehicle. I explained the problem that when I applied the brake pedal the vehicle would have trouble stopping and I had to apply a great force on the pedal and allow more timing to stop than normal. The auto technician said nothing he could find wrong but adjusted the brakes and cleaned them. A week and half later while traveling to a drug store I applied the brake pedal as I was pulling into a parking space and the vehicle would not stop. Fortunately no one was in front of the vehicle except a concrete light pole base that I hit. The vehicle suffered extensive damage to the front bump, hood, and lights and right fender and the total cost of repair is $3,500. 00. I was wearing my seatbelt and both the driver's airbag and passenger airbag did not dispense. The vehicle was towed to the autobody garage and the insurance company was notified. Even though I have applied the brake pedal to the floor I felt the vehicle lost half of its brake power to fully stop. I hope this incident can be prevented from happening again  next time it may be fatal.

Vehicle was going 45-50 mph and was involved in a head-on collison. Consumer and passenger both hit steering wheel and windshield. Dealer stated airbags should have deployed in head-on collision. Manufacturer and dealer have not sent anyone to look at totaled vehicle. There were four injuries in the accident.

Consumer was backing out and shifting gear into drive when both airbags deployed, causing windshield to shatter, $4000 worth of damage. There was no crash or impact. Driver sustained neck and eye injuries due to glass. When airbags deployed it knocked driver out.

Upon impact seat belts did not tighten, nor did air bags deploy.

While crossing an intersection another vehicle passed a red light then struck consumer's vehicle on the passenger side from door to the front. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy.

Consumer's wife was approaching an intersection at the light when another vechicle was trying to make a left turn, and cut in front of her. Other vehicle failed to yield and hit consumer's wife head . Also, dual airbags didn't deploy. Drver sustained neck trauma.

Consumer involved in an accident rear ending another vehicle. Upon impact,both airbags didn't deploy.

Air bags deployed when driving on rough dirt driveway. Estimated speed 5 mph. I had driven up the drive okay, but when I was leaving the left front tire hit a small rut and the air bags deployed, injuring me (driver) and passenger with sever facial abrasions. Car was rental from avis.

During collision, airbag deployed - heavy cover on airbag compartment dislodged and struck passenger in face causing severe injuries.

Airbag malfunctioned on driver side caused operator to lose control of vehicle which went airborne and crashed.

While going 30mph another vehicle cut in front & stopped suddenly. Driver in the Lumina applied brakes & hit right side of ranger (door & bed). Neither air bags deployed upon impact. Seat belt caused slight trauma to heart area.

Upon impact the driver's airbag exploded and a chemical smoke came out from it. The passenger's airbag deployed and busted the windshield. Dealer notified.

Air bags: driving approximately 35mph , road conditions very bad, slid into a car head-on and neither air bag deployed. No one has looked at vehicle yet.
