Two problems related to engine belts and pulleys have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Malibu. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The tensioner pulley for the accessory belt completely broke off from the engine block. The dealer had to remove the engine to drill out the old bolt and to get the new assembly in. This is a piece that should never just break. Dt.
