Two problems related to steering gear box have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Steering--steering rack, gear assembly, gear kit, ball joint and both lower control arms.
Steering gear box has failed while driving, causing a loss of steering capablity due to faulty parts. Consumer has had steering gear replaced a total of 3 times.
