Anti-theft Devices problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Anti-theft Devices problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the anti-theft sensor was illuminating intermittently. In addition, the contact was not able to get the key to turn from an off position to an on position. On some occasions, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 12v224000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

2 Anti-theft Devices problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2004

While driving anti theft light illuminated on the dashboard. Consumer had to completely shut off the vehicle off before the light wnt off. Contacted the dealer. However, the problem recurred.

3 Anti-theft Devices problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2004

The anti-theft system automatically locked the vehicle. This caused the vehicle not to move. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and dealer could not resolve the problem.
