general problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

Has issues that are recalled on other 2000 Malibu�s. Blinkers stopped working on & off one day. Then stopped totally next day, changed fuse nothing helped. Doesn't even show on instrument panel. Car refuses to start at times, takes any where from 3-5 tries to start. Also had recall done on ignition, didn't help, I replaced whole ignition switch after the dealer �fixed� it. Battery kepted on draining before that.

Chevy issued a recall (14350) which states they will repair my ignition keys. They also have a recall for other chevy vehicles that not only repair the keys, but replace the ignition switch and key cylinder. My cylinder and switch are damaged, so far I have gone through an alternator and battery trying to isolate th problem which shows on the scanner as being the cylinder and the switch. Chevy will not replace these items, even tho they are caused by the unintended motion issue.

I bough the 2000 chevy Malibu used in August 2014 since then I have been seeing the same thing I had happening with the 2003 Saturn vue I bought in 2012 pre owned , the key in the ignition comes out and does not turn off the car . The key comes out while the switch and car is still running the key also does not turn over as it sticks inside of the ignition switch and I have a hard time getting car started also . This is very dangerous and needs to be repaired I already had the Saturn vue repaired since it was recalled this car needs to be repaired as well. Please issue a national recall on the 2000 chevy Malibu cars to get fixed ASAP. I would like to get the car fixed ASAP this is not safe and also it is getting harder to turn the car on and the key is falling out a times also while the car is being driven since the switch is sticking . I would like to add that when I had two previous Saturn's a turquoise coupe and sl2, it happened twice and this is the first time I accidentally took another persons car in the parking lot of a movie theater since the keys to the Saturn's open the doors of cars like the same car I realized it was not my car and immediate took it back and got mine thank god the movie was still going or I could have been accused of stealing the car this is another manufacture defect and dangerous to people should they ever figure out that the keys all work on the same make and models . I also locked my keys in my car and asked on man to open my door with his key I was food shopping at the time he had the same Saturn coupe as my turquoise Saturn and it worked he stood there in disbelief I told him I knew this since it happened once in a movie theater parking lot. This needs to be dealt with ASAP I wrote in once and never heard back about it.

Ignition will not turn of and sometime steering will lock have a hard time getting the key to turn I have talk to so many people with the same problem Chevrolet should be ashame and do a recall to fix these problems.

My antitheft device has been engaging every two or so weeks since I purchased the vehicle a year ago. I have to sit in the car for ten minutes while the light flashes and wait for the light to go off because the car won't start. I have checked several complaint sites with owners of the same car having the same problem. Dealerships continue to say there is no recall and estimate the repair costs anywhere from 350. 00 to 1500. 00. , not including the 100. 00 initial diagnostic cost. I would like to know if a recall will be issued ASAP. Thank you.

I can not remove the key from the ignition after putting the car in park. The above happened randomly at first, but got worse, and now happens every single time. I now have to leave the key in the car, in the accessory position, and carry a second key just to lock and unlock the car. If I don't restart the car within a few hour hours, the battery would be drained, and I would have to get a jump start - this had happened to me a few times. I searched this issue on the internet and found an article from autonews. Com dated December 11 2014 saying that gm is aware of this problem, and would fix it if asked (not a recall). I contacted two local Chevrolet dealerships: community Chevrolet (16 Jan 2015) and rydell Chevrolet (19 Jan 2015), but was told they are not aware of any authorization from gm to fix the above stated issue. Please help me resolve this problem with gm.

I am appaled that I have received a recall notice in the mail, and when I go to make the appointment in order to repair the damage, no parts are available until mid October. The recall notice states we should schedule an appointment on or after October 1, 2014. However, what's the point? there are no parts available?.

I was driving my vehicle and it made a loud noise/ sound like it came from the heating and cooling vent inside. I went to the store and the key was stuck in the ignition. I got it out . Start the card after I left the store. The car speed was 10 mph to 25 mph with no meter moving for the gas, thermostat, there was no electricity. Triple a pick up my vehicle on February 27, 2014. Weber Chevrolet replaced cylinder and ignition switch. The total cost was $854. 22. I had this ignition switch replaced for the 3rd time. I would like to have and refund on my ignition switch.

Engine shut down while travelling. Coasted to shoulder. After waiting 10-15 minutes car started up again. Over next two days sometimes car would start and sometimes it would not. When it failed to start immediately after multiple attempts over 10-15 minutes car would finally start. After three days of this situation took car in for diagnosis and repair,and ignition lock cylinder was found to be defective and replaced. Mechanic advised this was a common problem on all Chevrolet models for many years.

When I put the key in the ignition and try to turn it on there's no power to the fuel pump and it rotates but doesn't start I've seen a lot of problems pertaining to this ignition defect also I need to wait 30 seconds to see the lights power on the odometer and still doesn't start.

My turn signal rarely works. I have found if I can get the hazzard to come on and go off my turn signal will work at times but sometimes you cant even get the hazzards to work.

After parking the car I was notified by a neighbor that my vehicle was on fire. The fire dept. Was call and extinguished the fire. The arson squad was called and determined the vehicles fire was due to a mechanical problem. After I researched the vehicle safety recalls and found out there had been a recall for this vehicle and I was unaware of it. I purchased it used. I did not receive any notice on the recall. I found there were many other fires associated with this failure. The vehicle was totally burned up vehicle was non repairable and towed to the junk yard after arson investigation was complete.

My car has expereinced trouble starting due to this ignition swirch, recall. I have been stranded multiple times. I have been to service stations and the mechanincs could not figure out what was going on, causing me to put out money for a new starter, a new electrical system, new fuel pump etc. The problems that I have faced were due to the ignition switch not being in the "run" position. How can I ever be compensated for all of the repairs that were not really needed on my car due to some major corporation being greedy and keeping it's customers in the dark about the reality of the situation. Gm has been putting me in danger for years now, and I have to continue to wait for the parts to be made to correct their error. I have been stranded on the road and in undesired places, this is unforgivable!.
