general problems of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu - part 2

Staring is loose and rattling . Does not sound safe.

On 01/14/2012 I was driving a 2004 Malibu classic in which I ended up in a crash involving 3 vehicles, I was driving on a street about 30 miles per hour when my Malibu had suddenly turned off without power steering and breaks I hit the car in front of me, then that car hit the car in front of him, my 2004 Malibu was totaled, the insurance company, was a total loss, at the time I was ticketed for following too closely, however I knew that this Malibu had loss power causing the accident.

I was driving my 2004 Malibu classic , when all the vehicle , turned off ,causing me to hit the vehicle in front of me and that vehicle hitting another car , there where 3 vehicle involved with injury's, my vehicle was tolled and was sent to a tow yard , at the time of the incident I was working as a maintenance worker and would carry my work keys with my vehicle keys , never would have thought it would have turned the ignition.

I've received 3 letters in the last approx. 8 months. First was recalling power steering, then one for brakes,and then transmission. As soon as car was paid off I literarily had to buy another trany twice in two years . The last letter said I can definately crash because of this recall problem specially said I would it is in the letter. I couldn't believe my eyes. Every letter said sorry parts aren't available we will notify you. Never has contacted me and it has been half a year. I'm driving a very unsafe vehicle written by Chevrolet company. Please advise me soon. Also there was no trany listed above so we put other. And there wasn't any accidents however going off ramp at 30 mph I spun in 3 circles another time driving slow in town aroun a easy turn it just spun for no reason. The theft system automatically engages randomly when ignition is attempted. Reset with key in on position for approximately 10 minutes is the only way to get the car to start. Can happen multiple times per day, regardless of weather or parking conditions. Replaced ignition in 2013 and computer in 2011 with no change in issue to a detriment of over $1,000. 00. Occasionally pressing gas when ignition first catches will route the issue, but not always. Theft light also now stays on regardless of a successful first start or not. Needless to say, it is frustrating to have this happen when you need to get on the road for work or even an emergency!.

The power steering stopped working while I was driving on a highway at 60miles and hour. Has been intermittently lossing power steering since 1/11/11.

I was driving along the road, and the yellow wrench popped up,the wheel was difficult to control. Also, while turning the car the wheel was difficult to turn. This problem occurs at least 3-4 times a year. My brake peddle acts up in the snowy months. When I press the brake peddle-the peddle jumps pushes up and down into my feet. When it snows, I worry about running into a car.

While excelerating gas to go around a curvey road for several miles on country road my power steering light dinged then all power shut off and my car would not make the turns this was reported in several diffrenent events to GMC dealer ship in parkersburg wv. But nothing was ever done. Then while driving at a consistant speed of 35 mpr on straight stretch my car shuts off while driving in town without any warrning. I have been so scared to drive my Malibu that iv hardly put any miles on my car since 2006. Every time I tryed to get the dealership to find out what was happing to my car they would say it was my tieres or something like this whitch my tieres were new. All I got was sum excuse as to what could be going on I replaced my steering shaft three times and it never stoped my car from doing this . . . I have all my files in the system at GMC dealership in parkersburg wv. And two other shops as well. My car scares me bad but I finally payed it off and cant efford to get another at this time. . . . . Please fix this my Malibu maxx ; while driving on highway my car started exceleraing in speed after I took my foot off the gas the pedle seemed to be push down on its own it was stuck my foot was not in any contact with the gas pedle when this acured. This acured about June 2013 I parked my car after this and have refuesed to drive it untill resently because ive had no choice but to drive it and at first the car seemed fine untill the past few weeks its starting to act up again. Im real scared to drive my car and have no other means of transportation to get my children to and from . Please help before something else happens. I contact the GMC dealership but they cant explain whats happening. . ""help"".

Sometimes you can't take your keys out of the ignition after putting it in park. I have to shift it back to reverse and then back in park for it to let the ignition switch to turn all the way off so I can remove my keys.
