I'm having an issue where's I'm scared I will be in a car accident. My engine light comes on then my tc light then my car say engine power reduce in the car will just shut off.
My daughter was driving her car and for no reason the car just shuts off. This has happened 3 times in the last weeks. The car also on 6 occasions would not start(has brand new battery) won't turn over, my daughter has been stranded several times. After a $400. 00 fuel pump replacement , which after it was replaced the car , other cars which are just shutting off while they are being driven. This is very dangerous to lose all power while driving!. And as well there have been numerous car owners who have replaced fuel pumps, which did not solve the problem. The car now has had the ignition replace as the mechanics "think:"its the security system!. To date the repairs are hitting $1,000. Also the turning signals, radio and a/c all work intermittently. I am no mechanic but seems there is electrical/security systems issues with these cars. The forums are loaded with car owners having the same issues! but of course they are so varied that most not reported to you!and we all know the garages don't report all issues! thanks for your help!.
I was at a stop sign went to press gas pedal to turn onto road and the car just shut off no warning lights came on nor did it show any codes. Got out of car popped trunk pulled relay fuse out put it back in and it cranked up,then on my way home from work, going about 25 mph and it just shut down again,I repeated pulling out relay fuse and put it back in then waited a minute then it cranked and I drove straight home.
The car in mention above has stalled for no apparent reason, when stalled steering becomes difficult this has happened several times over the past 5 years. When the dealer was called they said there was no recall, and if there was no trouble light on, it would be hard to detect cause unless it stalled while they had it in the shop. When it stalls everything just shut off. Upon pulling the car to the side of road with horns blaring putting it in park it then restarts like nothing ever happend untill next time it decides to shut off. What I'm getting at is there a possibility that gm will expand there ignition switch recall to include the 2005 Malibu which in my opinion is experiencing the same symtoms of suddenly shutting off or stalling the car now has 100,000 mile runs good other then the stalling.
The car will shut down without warning. I have experienced this when accelerating, braking, and when driving down the road with neither acceleration or braking. I have researched this on line and it seems like a lot of people are experiencing this with no known resolution to the problem. Every incident where I see it reported, the individual has not had a fix. The first incident was 3 weeks ago, then last night, and again this morning. If this were to happen in the middle of an intersection people would get hurt. Personally I plan to buy a new car because I do not feel that Chevrolet dealership will provide a fix.
