The car died on the highway when it goes over 55 the fuel cuts out. The car dies and will not restart.
All the door locks unlock and lock with in driving position followed by a beep it does this constantly. I believe is very unsafe with children in the back seat. Issue with the gas gage going crazy, goes from full to empty so you never know when the gas is going to run out. Also issues with the headlights and other bulbs being blown. All seems like some electrical issues but not sure.

Complete and total lock up of power setaring; battery light flicks on and then everything locks up until you relace the gas peddle for about 3 seconds. My lights randomly flash and rear bulbs on the driver side blow every 3 days. My turn signals will spraticaly blink and the wiper blades go off with out warning or being prompted. Even with no keys near or in the car it will not turn over to start the car until you floor the gas peddle and hold it there for 3-5 seconds. My raido reads at - all the time and the cd player has never worked correctly. When going from 0 to 50 getting on the parkway (highway) the whole car locks up and loses power including the stearing radio and lights unless you completely relese the gas then start to go again. Im so highly frustraited and chevy refuses to fix it even though these are all recalled problems but my VIN doesnt fall in there "bracket".
My 2005 chevy Malibu is experiencing an issue with the fuel gauge in regards to every time I fill up on gas. After the nozzle clicks once letting me know that it is full, I take the nozzle out. When I start the car, the gas needle goes up to full and stays there for about 3 miles or so. Then it suddenly goes to empty and I get the low fuel message, the steady check engine light and the chime. After driving 30 more miles, the needle fixes it self and goes to the correct level of gas. It works fine for the rest of the time until I fill up again. The low fuel message goes away and the light on the dash board goes away too. This is very similar to a recent message my father-in-law received from gm concerning his 2005 chevy envoy. He received a letter regarding a special coverage for failing fuel gauge sensors. The description in the letter is very similar to my same problem.
Fuel level sensor failed causing the fuel gauge to be erratic. . Also car will not pass inspection because of the check engine light being on. . I see other gm cars of different models have had recalls on this particular part. The repair will cost me $600 for the car to pass inspection.
The fuel gauge suddenly started to jump up and down and vehicle engine gets off and on.
2005 chevy Malibu. Gas gauge started giving incorrect readings resulting in car running out of gas and stalling, unable to restart. Gauge now will always read completly full when starting car, then after a few minutes, will fail and drop all the way to completly empty. I have spoken to many other gm owners and several of them have experienced the same issue, costing them almost $1,000 in repairs to get the gauge/float replaced. This is a serious and potentually a very dangerous problem because people could run out of gas and be stranded miles from help and this could happen in adverse or freezing weather conditions. If children happen to be in the car, the seriousness of this is considerably higher. I feel this is a major and widespread defect and that this particular piece of equipment should be recalled and fixed at no cost to the customer. I have owned gm cars my entire life and I would think that they would correct this and keep their dedicated customers safe and satisfied.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. The contacts was driving approximately 35 mph when a warning alarm sounded in the vehicle. The fuel level gauge was providing a reading of empty and began fluctuating erratically. The vehicle was recently refueled to full capacity. In addition, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact continued to drive at a slower speed until the components resumed normal operation. The contact stated that the failure recurred sporadically whenever the vehicle was refueled. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact there were no recalls for the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
I own a 2005 Malibu maxx and after one year old it began making clunking noises in the front. I took it to the dealership and they said they had to replace a part of the steering shaft. They did what they did and the noise was gone. They also replaced struts. A few months later it did it again. This time they replaced tie rod ends. By this time my warranty had expired. Then 2 months later it did it again! they lubed something and now it has been 8 months and it has not returned yet. Now my engine light is on and I keep getting a message to check my gas cap. I check it and nothing is wrong.
Vehicle intermittently wants to steer on its own. This happens for only a short time when it occurs. Primarily it wants to go left. Once I tried to go into the left lane of a freeway quite gradually. . . It wanted to go left alright. . . Although it wanted to go quickly into the lane! car has been to the dealer 5 times for this problem. The dealer has never been able to duplicate the problem. They have replaced the steering column twice. The last time was this past Friday (7/30/05). Hasn't happened since then (Tuesday, 8/2/05). . . But. . . Again this is a very intermittent problem. My mileage has dropped from 33 miles per gallon to 29 miles per gallon. Dealer says that nothing they have done should have caused this problem. They say that the 29 miles per gallon is within specifications. . . This drop is very significant. Have requested a buy back direct from Chevrolet. The vehicle well exceeds the requirements for a buy back according the ohio lemon law. Chevrolet says that they will not buy back the car. . . Even though it exceeds the requirements for the ohio lemon law! my biggest concern is that the steering will go totally out and the car will go wherever it decides to. . . I don't want to be injured and don't want to injur any one else.
