1 Tank Assembly problem

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while working on the vehicle it was noticed that the fuel tank strap rusted and detached from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 123,709.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2013

You can smell fuel when you are by the car. At this time it takes 2 to 3 cranks for the car to start. I'm told that there is a leak on the top of the fuel tank somewhere.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2011

Shift level does resond when shifting into low (l). Dealer said shift lever cable is bad and is a common problem. Second item had to replace fuel sensor in gas tank as it failed also was sending an over voltage signal to gas guage. Also a common problem.

4 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2011

The fuel gauge is erratic after I fill the tank, the gauge goes directly to empty after driving about 2 miles. It would correct itself when there was about a half tank of gas left. It did this for about 5 months, now it either says the car is empty or full. Now after filling my car I have to set the odometer to keep track of my miles I have driven in the car.

5 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

2005 Chevrolet Malibu LS with 3. 5 v6 engine. Fuel gauge reads empty and check engine light comes on after every refill of fuel tank. Problem has been continual since 7/12/ 2010.

6 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2004

The smell of fuel prompted the consumer to make contact with the manufacture and the dealer since there was a fuel tank recall. The consumer located a crack on the fuel tank.
