1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

This problem has occurred many times and I have taken to the internet to find out what I could to try to remedy it myself as I don't have endless disposable income to have someone else fix it. I have not had it seen by a professional, only consulted with a manager of a gm dealership repairs department over the phone as well as various mechanics and locksmiths. As I said I don't have endless disposable money to throw at this. The car will completely shut off in the middle of driving, I lose all power. The antitheft system engages in the middle of driving. Then I get no crank no start. I get stuck in the middle of the road. In the past I was able to just turn the key off and remove it and let it sit for a while and then it would let me start it again, this began a year ago and has gotten progressively worse and more frequent since it first occurred and I am now at the point where the car is completely no crank no start and anti theft system will not disengage. From my own research online I've found many others complaining of similar problems and they say it's related to gm passlock system.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss power steering assist. An audible chime was heard during the failure. The vehicle was stopped, and the power steering assist returned independently. Additionally, the check fuel cap warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14e044000 (steering) however, the repair failed to prevent the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2017

Gas gauge reads incorrectly and bounces erratically from full to empty and back again turning on the check-engine light and setting off the audible low fuel warning. This happens have every fill-up. In between fill-ups, gas gauge "sticks": to some arbitrary intermediate value. It never displays accurate fuel-remaining. I must used the odometer mileage to know when to get gas. This erratic behavior occurs when vehicle is in motion or stopped at a red light.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

Headlights and tail lights are not working they go out once a month and now they just out and this car is defiantly unsafe to drive. The locks go up and down while driving, and auto lock if left running. Gas fumes through out the car. These are very serious problems, also I have two toddlers that are forced to ride in this death trap!!.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2017

Noticed a fuel smell coming from back of 2005 mailbu maxx, nothing leaking for 3 days, then noticed fuel on the ground, was having issue starting (fuel line not pressurized) turning the car on and off a couple of times before cranking worked to pressurize the line. At the shop now, they said it a non-repairable fuel line coming off of the pump, going to have to replace the entire sending unit and it is going to cost me out the wahzoo to repair, how is there no recall on this? I spoke with gm recall line and was told there is no recall associated with the VIN of my car.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2017

Replaced canister purge valve and solenoid as well as gas cap twice. 2006 and 2012. Dealer service no warranty. Check engine light still does not stay off. Scares you when you are driving because you don't know if car will stop or get you home. Could cause problem if there is leak or mechanical issue. #2 seat belt light comes on and off every 3 to 5 miles. Dealer can't find issue.

Failure Date: 06/17/2016

I have to replace my signal lights every 2 to 3 months and they look like they melted inside also I have problems with my fuel like my car is not getting fuel while driving. And I'm angry because I've had my car for about 9 years and no one has ever mailed a recall to my home for anything on my car and I may be putting my life in danger. I learned about these recalls from my insurance company.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2015

The current issue I am having is every time I get gas, which is often because I drive 80 miles a day for work, my gauge will drop to empty and low fuel/ light comes on! next day low fuel light on still, goes off on my drive eventually, but the check engine light is now on! that goes away as well. I went to get the codes check at autozone and they are as follows: p0463.

Fuel shows incorrect amounts. Fill it and sometimes is says empty.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

I have had my engine stall due to lack of fuel multiple times which seems dangerous, I travel on the expressway every day. What if it happens at an fast speed. I also have had multiple issues while steering my car. There is an loud popping, coming from a steering shaft, which has just gotton worse I am afraid the steering shaft is going to break! both of these issues have been an recall for 2005 Malibu. As I am clearly having these issues my car is not part of the recall? why not? if something happens and I end up in an accident I see a lawsuit. Not to mention I have a 4 month child!.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

We have received 3 separate recall notices from gm. (1 for electric steering, 1 for brake apply sensor and 1 for a shift cable fracture). However, gm will not fix any of the problems. They tell us to call the dealer. The dealer then tells us that gm will not supply the parts. Upon calling gm a third time, they will not reveal who is making these parts, where they are coming from, or have any idea when they will be available. They again instruct us to call the dealer. Each recall states that it is an "important safety recall" in accordance federal laws but yet nobody will fix any of the issues. The first recall notice came in 2012 for electric steering. We are still being told there are not parts to fix this. The brake apply sensor came in July 2014. The shift cable fracture also came in July 2014. (this indicates that the cable can snap while driving).

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

In the middle lane of I-85 atlanta, 3:30 p. M. . We were in bumper to bumper traffic, stop and go, very slow traffic. Suddenly, my car shook and then cut off. After putting on hazard lights, I tried several times to start it back and it would start, shake and shut off. I finally got it started and turned off ac and traveled the rest of the way. Needless to say, it was very frightening and dangerous in the middle lane of rush hour traffic.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

There is a crack/leak in the fuel sending unit. This is the second one to be replaced on this car. The first was about a year after purchase (2006) and the newest problem was diagnosed around the first of this year (2014). I took it to a couple of mechanics and the entire unit will have to be replaced. The unit is around 500 plus labor and totals about 1000 dollars. This is on the short list of problems I have had with this car, even though it has been well maintained and taken care of. I have not had any major issues as others have, but this particular one concerns me quite a bit.

The car stops when driving also the exterior light have burned out the casing that holds the bulbs are melted.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Vehicles brake lights stick on while driving. Sometimes they flash when going aprox 65 and up. It appears the brake lights also flash when car is changing gears. The car once would not shift into drive while reversing and lost all power stearing. Also the brakes or something at front of car shakes rapidly when accelerating and even worse when going down hills.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

Like the current gm cobalt problems, car stalled while traveling on interstate. Luckily we were able to pull to side of the road and get towed. It was in the garage for a week and they could not find problem even with driving it 50 miles a day. Local dealer said they had not had problems, but I could bring it in. Lots of complaints on internet about this, but no service bulletins or recalls. Car has 35k miles on it, but my wife will no longer drive it.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

We bought this car 4 yrs ago in Aug 2008 at only a few yrs old we were very optimistic that the $ we were spending on it would be worth the less upkeep than that of the 1994 crown vic that we traded in (& my husbands 78 olds that has always required more work than it put out since he purchased it when we met back in 06). Since it was a few yrs old we thought that even though there was no warranty on our new "used" car, we would be ok. We were wrong. The first problem we noticed was the alignment which makes the car shake/vibrate at speeds 60+ & our first vacation we took it on which we only drove 4-5 hrs there & we ended up with 2 flat tires on the way. Then the headlights & blinkers had to be replaced (full units) bc both of them kept giving out & the bulbs weren't the problems & I kept getting traffic tickets bc I wasn't always aware when one would go out. Our 2 biggest problems to date have been our fuel sensor/electrical problems which quit working after 1 yr & I have run out of gas 10 times bc it isn't easy to keep up with miles/dates & I have kids so filling up every day isn't easy either as well as the locks/buttons on the drivers door that do not work & I have to open my trunk with a key & had to pay $ to get auto lock so that I don't have to manually lock the doors w/ the keys & the transmission/motor we had to pay $2750 to replace bc the last one completely gave out resulting in the car not being able to run whatsoever & my husband having to literally push my neutral car with his bc we didn't have the $ at the time to fix it. . Besides these problems there are the seats (plastic panels) falling/cracking apart, we had to replace the windshield bc anytime it rained our seats would be completely soaked. . & many other problems I still deal with. Keep in mind for the 4 yrs I have owned this car I haven't wrecked it & my husband keeps it up (changes oil, brakes, etc).
