1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

This problem has occurred many times and I have taken to the internet to find out what I could to try to remedy it myself as I don't have endless disposable income to have someone else fix it. I have not had it seen by a professional, only consulted with a manager of a gm dealership repairs department over the phone as well as various mechanics and locksmiths. As I said I don't have endless disposable money to throw at this. The car will completely shut off in the middle of driving, I lose all power. The antitheft system engages in the middle of driving. Then I get no crank no start. I get stuck in the middle of the road. In the past I was able to just turn the key off and remove it and let it sit for a while and then it would let me start it again, this began a year ago and has gotten progressively worse and more frequent since it first occurred and I am now at the point where the car is completely no crank no start and anti theft system will not disengage. From my own research online I've found many others complaining of similar problems and they say it's related to gm passlock system.

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

We have received 3 separate recall notices from gm. (1 for electric steering, 1 for brake apply sensor and 1 for a shift cable fracture). However, gm will not fix any of the problems. They tell us to call the dealer. The dealer then tells us that gm will not supply the parts. Upon calling gm a third time, they will not reveal who is making these parts, where they are coming from, or have any idea when they will be available. They again instruct us to call the dealer. Each recall states that it is an "important safety recall" in accordance federal laws but yet nobody will fix any of the issues. The first recall notice came in 2012 for electric steering. We are still being told there are not parts to fix this. The brake apply sensor came in July 2014. The shift cable fracture also came in July 2014. (this indicates that the cable can snap while driving).

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2014

I received a letter in July from gm advising me of a recall of my transmission shift cable. In short, it could fracture at any moment, causing an accident. It also has begun shifting to different gears without pressure being applied to the gear shift button. In other words, it can shift into a different gear on its own. This as my primary transportation. The problems with my car are a result of the transmission shift cable, under recall 14152. In the letter (again, received in July) I was informed that Chevrolet dealerships do not have the parts to fix the problem. It is now the end of August and the parts are still not available. My question to gm, as a single woman with one vehicle that I can't safely drive, what am I supposed to do? they had no answer. When is gm going to be held accountable for the position in which they have put thousands of consumers? why isn't there a forced buy back? and what am I supposed to do until they make parts available?.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2014

I was on my way to school. When I took my exit (23 on route 2), the car simply turned off, locking my steering wheel. I lost control, spung twice and landed on the ramp of that exit. The car has been useless since then. I called the recall hotline to get support and they did nothing for me. I'm left with no car and no support by the gm team that forward me endless recall letters. I've had endless issues with this car since I financed it. Endless repairs, close accidents encounter because of car sensor issues. Brakes no properly working. Traction failing. It has been a nightmare. How can I get support for a vehicle which I loved so dearly and yet nearly cost me my life?.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

After daughter stopped at red traffic light car would not go forward. Only gear was reverse. Drove backwards to safe location. Car would not go into any other gear. I am on disability so I did assume my transmission went out. So I did replace. My ex-husband doing all work in my driveway, as I can't afford mechanic. Long and short of it still wouldn't go into park. Discover it was the shift cable. Order shift cable directly from dealership. Replaced and everything works fine. Nothing was even mentioned when I would call dealership to ask question about getting the right transmission for my car, because I guess there was three different ones. Nothing was even mentioned when I order my cable through the dealership that there was a recall. Problem is gm doesn't want to reimburse because I didn't have the work done by a licensed mechanic. I had talk to a senior advisor and this is the information she had given to me. I feel this is not fair just because of my financial situation. I received my recall letter in July 2014 about recall and another letter January 16, 2015 letting me know that work could be done. I am hoping you can help me with this issue or I can try legal aid. Thank you.
