38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

In sept 2014, I had my 2006 Malibu repaired under gm recall 13036. At the end of June 2015, I noticed that my brake lights were malfunctioning. I took my car to a local mechanic for repair, which was the same work that was done for the recall. At the end of July 2015, the malfunction return again. I contacted chevy via email and phone, and was first told that there wasn't a recall for this problem. I called again and explain that I was having the problem described in recall 13036 (" these fluctuations can cause one or more of these conditions: the brake lights to illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed"). I was then told that there was a recall, but that mine was "closed" since I had already had it done once. I am concerned that I will be rear-ended because of the malfunctioning brake lights, which is a problem that chevy/gm is aware of, having already issued a recall.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

Went to go get something to eat waiting in drive thru and all of a sudden gas gauge went from full to empty and the light came on and the display said low fuel and hte check engine light came on. Me and my husband looked at each other I told him its full. So we got our food and went next door to the gas station went to put gas in and it would take any because it was full. So then all of a sudden the gas gauge said full. It did this off and on for a while then it started not wanting to start it would take 3-5 tries to finally get it started. Then had the check engine light check it said it needed the fuel pump and relay I think that is what it said. So finally we found some one that would replace it we had to replace both the fuel pump and the relay that lets you know when the fuel is at in your gas tank.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2014

While driving my car days after I purchased it , suddenly the instrument panel lights started flashing on and off. This includes gas gauge, oil light, check engine soon , abs, speedometer , dome light, radio,. . . Also showed on instrument panel an image of a car and a lock. Etc. . It flashed on and off for a while then completely went out. So I was unable to determine speed, how much gas was in the tank no inside light or radio. . The weather was below zero with a wind chill factor and I assumed it had something to do with that. After a few days everything came back except radio. An additional couple of days and radio came back . The car went in for inspection with in 10 days of purchase . Nothing was said, about electrical or instrument panel. Now on or about June 10th the same thing is happening more continuous flashing and electrical going out. It flashes when you start the car and continuously flashes while you drive sometimes just going blank for a while. . Thank you.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

I recently sent my car over to global auto mall in north plainfield, NJ. It was there for a week without anyone calling me informing me if the car was finished when they were supposed to fix the recall. I came from the car mechanic today because my car was not working properly and the same items that were supposed to be fixed were not fixed and now I have to spend more money trying to fix it. I would like to be reimbursed for the work that I have done for my car immediately. I don't have money to keep fixing this car and I am willing to go to the media and other legal options that I have. I have kids and a wife to support and this recall did not help the situation.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2014

The fuel gauge is not functioning properly. When I fill the car up completely with gas, the dashboard indicator reads zero and I get a low-fuel warning message. When this problem started, after driving 15-20 minutes, the gauge would then read 'full' again, but the 'check engine' light would come on, and during this time the remote start function would not work. Now the car reads empty at all times, the engine light is on, and the remote start does not work. This led me to run out of gas. I am worried about the car stalling while on the road, as I have read happening to other gm vehicle models, and I am worried about running out of gas again. Fuel system problems seem to be very common with gm vehicles, especially the Malibu, and I would like to see the problem addressed.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

I do not recall exact accident date as I received nothing from insurance. Car was placed in park and turned off. Car had been parked and sitting for 30 minutes. Car came out of park and rolled into another parked car causing damage to that vehicle and to my vehicle. I do not think it went into park to start with. My insurance covered repair of the other vehicle and I repaired my own hechile. My insurance told me that they would contact chervolet concerning accident. Later I noticed my insurance had listed this as a moving violation and raised my insurance. I have contacted my insurance concerning this as this was not a moving violation. I was not driving nor was I in the car and this seemed to involved a recall. I will report my insurance to the state insurance commision to look into this matter has I should not be punished for this problem. I had an excellent driving records for the past 30 years. I had taken car to dealer concerning recalls but was told parts not available. I took car on one occassion and part was ordered for recall. I took car back and was told my part given to some one else. I finally received final repair on 04/08/2015. I made several trips to have car looked at and parts to be ordered then had to take it back for repairs. I also had lose of steering at times for brief periods. I became fearful of driving this car after so many problems and was nervous and anxious when in the car. Too many recalls on this vehicle after I had it for a long time. Some one could have been hurt. Why so longer to notify me of so many recalls and why so long for repairs. If recall is done, parts should be available at dealer. I should not have to take it to be looked at, then wait for a part, then have to take it back it. I will consider legal action.

I told them since they had no idea when parts would be in to just replace my car and the answer was no!! they also want me to pay to have it inspected. This is their fault not mine I should not have to pay for anything!!!.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

He power steering light came on the display. I could not steet or turn the car. I turn tge car off for about thirty minutes. I started the car back up called gm dealer on 38th street explained the problem & went in. The service department said that it was power steering column & that it would be 1200 dollars to fix. I did not have the money to fix it. On several occasions this has happened to me. As recently as February 25, 2015 I took my car to a private mechanic & paid 817. 00 for suspension work, bushings etc & 253. 00 for two tires. The mechanic informed me that the intermediate mid shaft needs to be replace & that there was still clucking noise & rattling in the steering wheel. I test drove the car with the mechanic & as I was turning out of the parking lot the power steering locked up again. It was very difficult for me to turn the steering wheel as I was turning on a busy intersection. The power steering light came on display. I cut my hazard lights on & cut the car off & started the car up. . . . I do not feel safe in this car. I got on line on February 27, 2015 googled 2006 recalls on Chevrolet Malibu's & seen that there was a recall. I contacted dorman products & left a message in regards to my issue. I also contacted gm 18006302438, spoke with a representativeabout the issue (power steering) & she asked for my VIN number. She also asked me if I was the first owner of the car, I explained that I purchased the car from the andy mohr dearlership & that there was a previous owner. The representative informed me that the recall letter to the previous owner on February 5, 2015. I updated my information & received a letter the next day for the recall. I am schuled to go in for electric power steering assist (recall # 14772) on Tuesday March 3, 2015. I hope that this dangerous issue is taken care of. Concerned Chevrolet Malibu owner.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

Driving along on a state hwy at 57mph, power steering alarm dings and power steering ceases and OH crap!! I'm not wanting to die yet! I maneuvered the car to the shoulder thankfully and restarted my car. After several attempts the power steering returned. Obviously the chevy company is waiting for enough accidents or deaths to offset the cost of a recall . Has there been an investigations? how many people have to die? I see many complaints, stories of mechanics that know nothing about it or charge for a "maybe fix. " really??? please advise me of any real answers to this dangerous problem. I'll also be in contact with my senator sheila harsdorf and the state of wisconsin's department of safety about this problem. Thank you.
