I was pulling out of my driveway in my 2007 chevy Malibu and couldn't cut the wheel in any direction. Power steering was totally out. The radio was scrolling "power steering", but had no idea what was going on. Managed to get to a gas station and then after many of us looking at it realized it was an electrical power steering unit. Was going to get it towed, but when starting it up again, it worked fine. Intermittent problem. This is so dangerous! my car only has a little over 68,000 miles on it. Dealer said that this is common, but the 2007 was not covered by the recall - all other years besides '07. I needed a new steering torque sensor. Cost $500 to replace. Seems crazy with such a known problem and low miles that gm excluded this year in the recall. So disappointed!.

My vehicle's steering wheel locked up, making it very hard to steer the vehicle left or right, and a message went across my screen reading "power steering". When my steering wheel is not locked up, it continuously jumps in my hands. I am pretty sure this is all due to the electric power steering giving out, just like in the recalls given for the other Chevrolet Malibus, unfortunately, my 2007 was one of the models left out of this recall, when I am positive it has the same defect as the others recalled. The description of what happens in these situations matches mine to the tee. The risks are the same as well, I am in just as much danger as those others driving that did get recalls. The difficulty steering makes it hard to swerve out of the way when in an emergency, as every turn requires a lot of muscle. I am asking anyone in charge to please, review this and include the 2007 in the power steering recall.
The passlock system in the car enables whenever it wants to leaving you stranded. The whole car shuts down all methods of disarming the system fail. You have to wait x amount of time for the passlock system to disable on it's own. It could take an hour to 48 hours! huge inconvenience!.
When filling fuel tank to full, fuel gauge will suddenly show empty, then over next 50 miles or so, the fuel gauge level will swing wildly between empty and full. This results in the check engine light coming on. After about 50 miles, the correct fuel level will register and then 50 miles after that, the check engine light turns off.
I did not have a crash, or driving incident. This complaint is due to the following: I received the recall (14152) letter back in June of 2014. The needed part was not available at that time so I waited for another letter to come and finally received a month or so later (August). I took my car to the wesley chapel gm dealer and they completed the recall work for free. Although, they ended up charging me $2,400 for electrical, and fuse damage to my car that they say was not related to this recall, although based on everything I have read I believe these charges were a reflection of the recall. My hands were tied as I need my car so I paid the fee at the dealership and called gm and had them open up a ticket to look into my issue, charges, and what the dealership fixed. Gm responded to me that they could not help me. Now, thinking all of this was behind me, I receive another recall letter with the same recall number this month (Jan 2015), now telling me I still have an open recall. When I put my VIN number into the system it still reflects this as an open recall on my car. I'm so confused, and really feel like im being taken advantage of by gm, and the dealership. I refuse to take the car back to the dealership as they will find another way to charge me when this is all gm's responsibility. At this point I have no idea what to do, nor do I even know if my car is safe to drive or not.
Car drives without key turned all the way to 111. Brakes are unreliable. . . Scares my wife and I!! car dies out upon acceleration.
There are so many issues with this car and I am not at all happy. Just received 2 recalls on it for the electrical system and for the transmission shift cable. There are issues with the steering having a clunking sound and now I have to replace a tire because of it. Tires were purchased last October. I have read several complaints on this specific vehicle and other recalls. My son has to use this car to go back and forth to work which is only 7 miles one way, and I do not even trust it that far. We get told we will be contacted when the parts for the recalls are available, meanwhile something can happen and if it does you may just have a lawsuit on your hands. I just want to give the car back and get something else without having to add the remaining balance due to a new loan.

It's happened 3 times, driving various speeds the steering locks up. First time I was making a right turn and the car instantly locked up. I put the car in park and powered car off then started it back up it was fine. Second time about 3 months after the first time went threw a stop light started up a hill and the dash lights all flicker the radio powered off and the seat belt noise went off 2 or 3 times and the car locked up. I parked the car powered it off. Started it again it was fine. Last time it happened I was at a stop light making a right turn and again the steering locked up and I had to park my car and power it off on a main street where it's very busy. I started it again and it was fine this last time was on July 15, 2014 . This car with all the recalls I feel is a death trap.

My brake lights go on after about 7 seconds when I am driving and not touching the brakes. The brake lights go off when I apply the brakes and then go back on when I am stopped. This is very dangerous and when I entered my VIN it does not show up on the recall list. I also have the issues with power steering going out and have also had to replace the shift cable last fall when I could not put the car in park- it was ripped in half. Cruise control stopped working years ago. Power mirrors do not work. Check air bag reminder goes on randomly. This car is a piece of garbage and very unsafe.
The fuel sending devise keeps going bad and shows an empty tank then comes back on.
Occupant air bag sensor come on in fire, now service air bags light is on and there is a burn hole in the passenger front seat.

My steering wheel pulsate whenever it feels like it. My steering wheel locks up while I am driving. I have to turn my car off and then turn it back on in order to have power steering. I have spent money for rotors resurfaced, alignment, and tie rods. I am worried about this situation causing an accident. I have taken it to dealer where I was informed there was nothing wrong. There are a ton of complaints.
I notice my wires smoke some times when I drive, and when I put my foot on the brakes I have to do it more than two times and I had that fixed in February 2013. My fuel pump went out and I replaced it( onfebruary 15, 2014). Just about a week after getting my car fixed it seems to hesitate when I put my foot on the accelerator. I took it to get it looked at and no one could find anything wrong and it is yet doing this.
My fuel gauge shows low fuel most of the time . My lights on the dash change check engine light comes on sometimes then gas gauge works. Then it goes off and things change air bag warning comes on. Things just jump around never the same mix of things .
Air bag warning lite stays on.
Randomly losing power steering. Happened once briefly in August 2013. Took it for a diagnostic test immediately after this incident and was told nothing was wrong. Started happening on 12/7/13 and hasn't stopped. I had the car looked at by a mechanic on 12/10/13 who disassembled the steering column/dashboard, etc. And was told that nothing is wrong. On 12/16/13, it was taken to another mechanic, who test drove it and ran another diagnostic test and once again told me nothing is wrong and to pick up my car. Since then, I have been randomly losing the power almost daily to multiple times daily. I commute approx. 30 miles to and from work and have had to drive with no power steering at high rates of speed. To make it worse, the weather has been very bad the past week so I have been a nervous wreck not knowing when the power steering is going to go out. Within the past year, both my airbag and door ajar warnings have come on randomly when I have no door ajar. I wasn't as concerned since they are not an immediate danger. When I lose power steering the car does "ding" and "power steering" flashes on my audio system. If I am able to(not on the freeway)then I pull over, turn the car off and then back on. Sometimes this corrects the problem and sometimes it does not. Sometimes it will go awhile without this happening and sometimes it happens multiple times in a row. I am planning on taking it to a local dealership this weekend and hoping I don't get into an accident in the meantime. When I just spoke to the dealership the gentleman on the phone said that this is a common problem and he knows there are some recalls. From what I can see there are recalls on every year surrounding mine. This is extremely dangerous and something needs to be done. I hope the dealership is able to correct the problem and I don't end up spending hundreds of dollars and this is still going to happen.
I was driving my 2007 Malibu and turning a corner when the power steering went out. Luckily I was in an area with no other vehicles at the time. I was able to get the vehicle home, when I started it again the power steering was working. This seems to be a common problem with this make and model from what I have read. The power steering goes out while driving and comes back on after restarting the car. The issue recurs without warning. It is very dangerous and could cause a serious accident. There should be a recall on the 2007 for this known issue.
I was getting ready to leave my house in my 2007 chevy Malibu and when I went to turn my wheel to get out of my driveway I could not turn it. I pulled back in the driveway and tried again, same thing. We had a friend come over with a diagnostic and it was the electrical power steering. From reading all of the other numerous comments, I am surprised there is not a recall on this issue. Hoping gm does something about this.
Service passenger airbag warning light comes on intermittently. Sometimes when the passenger seat is occupied, the light will go off, but not always. Lack of trust in dealers investigating and making the repairs is an issue. I'm told (by a local Chevrolet dealer service manager) that it will cost $80 just to check via computer what the cause may be. Repairs such as re-coupling a loose sensor connection beneath the passenger seat is relatively inexpensive ($40) but replacement of sensors repairs could run upwards from $700.
The buckle for the passenger side seat belt stop working on my 2007 chevy Malibu, airbag light on for no reason , I lock the car come back all doors are unlocked.
