general problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu

I can hear the u joint clicking like it wants to fail and suddenly randomly there is a loss of powersteering. This issue caused my father who is on oxygen to go to the hospital.

While driving along the highway the steering wheel began to turn slightly by itself and powering steering displayed on dash and wheel was hard to steer. Fuel pump floater goes out.

My car has stalled multiple times while in use, on the highway. Very scarry!.

My gas gauge hasn't been working for a few years and I was wondering if there was a recall on that, it seems that a lot of chevy Malibus has had this problem.

While driving you can feel steering tightening up and a slight hum especially making left and right turns, gas gauge goes up and down from full to empty constantly, engine light stays on because of gas cap replaced 4 times works for awhile longest was about a month, also stays on because of duel gauge fluctuating constantly.

Since purchasing my car in August 2013, I have had to make three fairly costly repairs. Each time the mechanic told me this was a "known problem" for Chevrolets. The first was the intake valve. I hadn't experienced problems but took the car in for what I thought was a squealing belt. The squealing turned out to be the water pump. Since that was secondary in importance to the intake valve, I had that replaced first. Followed by the water pump a couple of months later. Then about a month ago, I was out of town and my car suddenly would not shift into park or reverse. It was a worn and stretched shifter cable. However gm says my car is not part of the recall.

Fueled up and the gas light and check engine light came on. Gas gauge went up and down and now stays on. Does not recognize fuel is in the car and always says low fuel even after fueling up. Both check engine and gas light are steady on.

Last week my car started creeping when I hit the gas. My car sounds like a boat. The car sounds like its not getting gas or choking. When it starts picking up speed it sounds like its dropping into the gears. I took it to the shop and they are telling me that there is a problem with the catalytic converter and it needs to be replaced. That has been replaced now they are telling me there is a problem with the timing chain and water pump. Now, I noticed that these are all things that are covered under chevy warranty but the issues shows up after the warranty has ended. Chevy needs to extend the warranty on these parts because its a common issue.

While driving on the 91 freeway, the power steering went out causing the vehicle to jerk to the right and I nearly collide with the vehicle to my right. In addition the fuel cage and the engigne light came on. I notified gm asking to please take some responsibility since many other drivers are experiencing the same problem, and the defective parts could cause an accident with serious consequences. The response that I received was that it is the government responsibility to place a recall and not theirs.

The fuel level sensor has been erratic and goes from full to empty and the low fuel light goes on. Additionally, this triggers the computer and the check engine symbol appears. It also denotes a failure for the emissions test in maryland even though it has no emissions problems. I also found out that this is a common problem in GMC and chevys and has been a recall item but not on the 2007's any reason, why it would be safe on some models and unsafe on others?.

The power steering had gone out repeatedly at different times, both while driving and not. It would come back on at times and now for the last 5 months has been out completely and is a danger to drive. It is my only vehicle and I drive 3 children around regularly. It is nearly impossible for someone of my strength and size to drive. I fear it is a matter of time before we have an accident. The low fuel light and warning came on as I began to pull out of a service station. If I fill up on gas anywhere the fuel light comes on and remains on until my gas level is less than half. This causes my check engine light to remain on constantly and disables the remote start function.

Have had problems with the fuel sensor, thought it was fuel level sensor but apparently from all others reports these are several problems with the fuel system. This causes the check engine light to come on and will not allow the remote start to work. Also idles rough seems like it wants to stall.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the fuel level system failed to register accurate fuel levels. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was advised to the contact that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired nor was the manufacturer notified. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. The VIN was not available.

I drive a 2007 Malibu and the check engine light keeps coming on and the feul gage will drop to empty even though I know gas is in the car. Then it will slowly climb back up and then drop again.

Fuel gage and indicator light reflected that the gas level was empty. The engine light came on and remain on.
