Other Fuel System Pump problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu

Issues with the fuel pump assembly going out; gas gauge reading empty when the tank is full.

I just got my 2007 Malibu ltz and after I fill the tank with gas I drove the car for 10 miles when gauge indicator show that I have an empty tank since that day I never have an accurat reading and the check engine light is on now I think its the fuel pump.

The fuel pump sensor has gone bad twice in 4 years. I have had to replace it both times. When it goes out, the low fuel light comes on whenever the tank is full and the check engine light stays on until the tank is empty.

I notice my wires smoke some times when I drive, and when I put my foot on the brakes I have to do it more than two times and I had that fixed in February 2013. My fuel pump went out and I replaced it( onfebruary 15, 2014). Just about a week after getting my car fixed it seems to hesitate when I put my foot on the accelerator. I took it to get it looked at and no one could find anything wrong and it is yet doing this.

Every time I fill my gas tank, my gauge starts dropping to empty, I get low fuel warning and then it will go back up to full again. This change happens repeatedly while driving. Now my check engine light is on. Car seems to be operating fine otherwise. Very frustrating, as I see there is a recall on replacement fuel pumps for the 2007 Malibu *which I am assuming is the problem* but not on original manufactured parts, which is what I have in my car. I just hit 74000 miles. Frustrating that an american made car is going bad so fast. This will be quite an expensive repair for me if indeed it is the fuel pump. . .

This 2007 Malibu will just die on you at a stop light and sometimes when you are backing up. The fuel gauge has not been working for a long time a little over a year. The car can be full of gas and it will show it is on empty. When we first got the car the air bag signs would come on and we took it back to gm dealer and they could never find any problem. Also the seat belt light comes on and your have your seat belt on. This car has also has just been at the dealers for repair for the electrical power steering problems, very scary. It concerns me about the safety of this car dying on you if you are on the highway or something like that. Things that are going on with this car are strange and things like the fuel gauge, power steering you would think you wouldn't have any problems with. I think that there is a recall on the fuel pump and I was just wondering if it had any thing to do with the fuel gauge not working. They sure don't make them like they used to.

The vehicle would start for approximately 2 minutes and would automatically stall. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. I had got in a crash in 2010 since then my electrical system and air bag indicator lights are always going on and off. Now my airbag lights stay on saying there not on. I also do not have a working fuel pump sensor.
