On Sunday March 8th, 2015 I turned my car about 7 pm in the evening to realize that the engine light was on, service esc was populating on the dash and traction control had been lost in the car. I was having difficulty breaking as if the abs break system was not working in the car. I drove it immediately home from work and parked it at my home address. On Monday morning at 7:30 am I called the Chevrolet customer support to discuss the current recall which appeared to be the issue. I was instructed that I could drop my car off at best Chevrolet and they were aware of the recall and would assist me. Dropped the car off at 12:00 noon on 07/23/15 for safety recalls (13036) and (14152) mickey said the car was ready my son and I picked it up, he drove home, loaded up, and made it to waco, TX. My son called me and said he could not put it in park or get the key out. I borrowed my neighbors trailer drove to waco it was dark so I just loaded up the car strapped it down and drove home mickey had called and said that the technician thought at first he started to say misplaced but then changed it to, left a clip out and to bring the car back but not to worry it would be safe to drive when I opened the hood in the morning to my surprise I found the clip tool that the technician left on top of the trans-axle wedged tightly between the shift cam and transaxle assembly I can tolerate ineptness but I can't tolerate being lied to if the clip was a problem that is the part that affects the recall in the first place, unsafe! if mickey was covering up for the technician's mistake of leaving the tool he used under the hood, at my son's expense that won¿t be tolerated I will take the car to capital Chevrolet Tuesday morning to check for any damage. Also the under panel was not secured correctly and a nut left out. I won't be answering the phone please make all correspondence by e-mail. On 07/28/15 at 9:00 I took the car over to capitol Chevrolet 6200 ih 35 austin, TX 78745 to inspect and check for damage after the tool left in the engine compartment was removed from the transaxle assembly the technician terry hamilton said there was no apparent damage but that the cable should of been connected by a clip not a worm gear clamp due to the chance of over tighten that could damage the cable assembly if the clip was truly forgotten did the gear clamp install itself? I sent an e-mail to chance covert (general manager) informing him of my experience.

I was t boned by another vehicle going the wrong way on a one way. I then was sent up a curb 35 mph hitting a tree head on dragging the car down the tree then went up a small hill almost ending up in someones porch. I passed out at some point. Not one airbag went off in my vehicle. I contacted gm and they requested pictures first. I sent pictures of the Malibu and was told they didn't feel the airbags should of deployed. I would have to find the vehicle for them to check the module. I found the vehicle and gm says the module was now put in another vehicle and I now have to find that vehicle. This next person might not live through a accident. Why wouldn't they find this. Vehicle and check the module? my car was totalled. I worry about the person now driving with this module in their car! isn't this the problem gm has now?.
Both hoses busted. They were replaced gm parts. Same thing happened 10/28/14. Backing out from parking about 2 mph and heard a noise and the brake pedal went to the floor. Both hoses busted again, same car.
While pressing the brake to slow to turn to the right the esc servicing comes across the dash. I call the service department the next day (cause the incident happened after hours) they tech says next time the light comes on bring it in without turning the car off. For the next several times it happens of course was after hours. I took it in for a oil change, and when leaving the light came on again. I automatically turned around and went back. Upon diagnostic testing it shows nothing is wrong and the tech says my car doesn't have anything that would set off this code. Can anyone tell me what esc stands for on this model car?????.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu steering free wheels at times jerks side to side at times at any speed. Brakes fade at times rumble . This week I contacted general motors waiting to hear what I should do. Did search on internet and I seen hundreds of people that have same problem . And they say dealer cannot repair . Has anyone investigated Malibu steering problems it scares me when it stops working . All at once the steering jerks side to side . Hard to turn at low speed . Car has 27000 miles and has had intermittent problems with steering and brakes since I bought it afraid to take it to dealer they say nothing is wrong with it but I say there wrong .
I have a Chevrolet Malibu lt 2008 since may 2008, unfortunately it seems that the brake system is still a headache based on several online reviews. After 15,000 miles, the steering wheel started shaking every time that I pressed the brakes, therefore I took the vehicle to the dealership, robins Chevrolet in humble (great service by the way), and they resurface the front rotors, that was just 2 months ago, and now with 5 k miles more I have the same issue again. Braking distance has increased maybe by 20%, my question is? why gm has not improve the brake system on these vehicles, I google it and found several complains with the braking system for vehicles 2000 and up, year by year.
2008 Chevrolet Malibu 260 miles purchased on 7-21-08 on 7-22-08 received warning light "service traction" and "service sce" pulled to the side and look in manual description of problem. Manual said service as soon possible. Car was running very sluggish and abs brakes were chattering when applied. Car seemed like it would not shift gears. Took to dealer ASAP. Dealer said the problem was from a low charge on the battery. Dealer had car for 2 days. Did not drive car again until 7-28-08. Drove 4-5 miles and "service traction and service sce" warning lights came on. Drove to dealer approx 2 miles. When I got to the dealer, the left front abs brake was smoking was very hot, almost seemed like it would burst into flames. Hubcap had wilted on wheel. Left car a dealer, received call from dealer saying the problem was probably due to steering wheel being adjusted to the lower position, causing the steering assembly to press against the brakes. If this is the case it sound as like a design flaw. Since people always lower the steering column to a lower position. Dealer was ordering parts and would car for 4-5 days. Parts to be ordered was a pad for the steering column (band aid) new hub cap.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving the vehicle at various speeds, the contact heard strange noises when the brake pedal was depressed. He stated that there appeared to be an issue with the electric power steering/steering assembly. The steering wheel was smooth in the beginning and then suddenly jerked to the left and right. The wheel became very loose as if he had no control of the steering. The dealer repaired the failure approximately five times, but could never determine the exact cause of the failures. The failure mileage was 1,500 and current mileage was 13,000.
