Drivers side door will not unlock and will not open sometimes and will not close sometimes when opened. When it wont open it feels like the handles are not grabbing anything. The door jams are clear of any debris. When it wont shut it will sound like it did but will bounce open. The door opened on me while I was driving. This is very unsafe. The lock knobs move up and down when you unlock them but the door still will not open sometimes. This has been going on for 3 days. It will not open when the car is stationary and the door came open on me while driving on a city street. I did not hit any holes or bumps.
Cruise control when engaged maintains the speed but when climbing a hill the rpm's won't shift the car and then once the car reaches the set speed it still won't shift . The set speed with cruise controls won't stay when decending down a hill but will increase with speed and won't maintain the speed you set it at. This is bad for the engin and transmission as when you DE activate the cruise controls the car shifts gears .
Passenger side door won't open. The latch goes up and down but the door won't open, even if I try to open the door from the outside or inside the car the door won't open. This problem also occurs intermittently with the drivers side door.
I got my Malibu in Nov. 2013 and in August on 2016 I took it in for a oil change at the dealership and a check I do every three months a week later my transmission dies, I got to my mom radiation appointment and it died in the parking lot had to tow it to a manichean and he tells me that it is the transmission died I do not have any money to get it fixed cause I am a full-time student so my car is sitting in my the street and I can not drive my mother to her appointments because we have no car and my mom is on a fixed income due to the fact she is 73 yrs old. How am I supposed to fix this when I have everywhere I go they want 2500-4500 dollars to get it fixed all up front and no payment plans??????.
My car shut off as I was driving on 4 occasions. After the sceond time the car shut off as I was making a right turn at a light on a city street. The next day I had the car towed to a Chevrolet dealership and I was told it was a faulty intake actuator and exhaust actuator solenoid valve, the air filter was on wrong and there was carbon build up inside the throttle and the cooling system needed to be flushed that was on 8/8/16. Costing $700. On 8/12/16 it stopped running again on the garden state parkway. I was able to start the car it bucked some. Today on 8/13/16 I tried to use the car to pick up one of my children and it stopped again as I was driving on a city street. My concern is one this is a safety issue. Two having to pay for repairs that are not pertaining to the issue and three I see on the internet that there are the same exact compaints regarding chevy Malibus but there is no recall.
Dashboard cluster is out and goes in and out as well as the digital gear change. It started giving me transmition issues and now anything digital is completely out.
The check engine light is on. The error code is p0010. I can't drive my car 6 months without some issue. This is just the latest in a long line of problems. I have had to replace my steering column when the car was only 4. 5 years old. I had to replace the transmission at only 5. 5 years old. I just had to have the passenger door fixed, as it locked, and wouldn't open. And now this p0010 code. I'm facing yet another costly fix on this car. I believe there should be a recall on this error code so that I am not forced to pay out of pocket yet again.
In 2014, general motors' recall #13036 was serviced by Chevrolet dealership who said problem was corrected. In June 2016 the problem has reoccurred. While in motion the brake lights come on without pressing the brake peddle; the cruise control disengages; and disablement of traction control and electronic stability which could increase the risk of a crash. All occur while vehicle is in motion on city streets and highways.
Car shuts off while driving! everything dies. Cannot restart. Happened twice. Dealer replaced sensor. Worked for a week, then died again in traffic. Towed back to dealer, who has no idea why this happens. No recall notice ever received from chevy. But I found plenty of complaints by other owners as far back as 2003 while researching on internet.
Driving aprox. 55 miles an hour, when suddenly a service esc light appeared and the traction control light illuminated also at this time I lost almost all engine power and was almost unable to make it home. . . . .
Vehicle sunroof leaks through to center console, front dome light, carpets and speakers. This occurs at all times, stationary and in motion. More so after rain and car washing. I now have water stains, mold and smell throughout car.
The driver's door will not open from either key, inside door handle or outside door handle. We took to chevy Malibu dealership and was told since this is not recall we have to pay for it which would be $467. 00. The vehicle only has 79. 000 miles. The door not opening has happened many times and I am not only one this has happened to because I checked on line to see the numbers. It is dangerous in this condition. I am trapped in car when it happens plus I am disabled and moving over median to get our of car is extremely difficult. Since this is dangerous, this should be a recall.
As I was driving a light came on that said esc, traction, service esc at one point it said traction off. It has happened numerous times sometimes I go to start the vehicle and the light is on and the car will not budge from park and I was stranded for over an hour in the evening all alone. Other time I was driving and the light came on and the brake lights are on the whole time and people were honking at me. My worst time was when I was driving going about 55 on a very dark road with my daughter in the car had about 40 miles to drive to get home and the light came on as I was driving and apparently then I had no brake lights at all ! all the way home no brake lights I was unaware of this until a car drove up on me almost hitting me from behind because he could not see me until he was right on me and I had to swerve over to the next lane to avoid being hit this was a very scary and traumatic incident for my daughter and I! this is beyond dangerous and something needs to be done, when I called the dealership they said their was a recall but that they had fixed it during my last oil change which I was never made aware of but case being if it was "fixed" then why am I still riding in a dangerous vehicle?! one day its okay and the next day I may be on the express way doing 55 hoping not to die due to a faulty system something needs to be done about this issue before someone is seriously hurt! I am disappointed in the way the Chevrolet dealership is just brushing this off as yes it was a recall but we took care of it supposedly so now that's not the problem in their words it's now your problem! I can say that by the way I have been treated and getting the run around and being scared to drive a vehicle that I no longer feel safe in has really really caused me to dislike Chevrolet!.
I went to open my front, driver's side door (from the outside) and it would not open. I climbed through the passenger front and tried to open the driver's door from the inside. . . It still would not open. Using the palm of my hand, I bumped the effected door on the outside door panel, by the handle and it opened. I lubed the inside door catch area as much as I could and it seemed ok. 48 hours later, I was having the same problem. Additionally, there have been a few times during this time frame where I went to close the door and it bounced back open again. It seems that the door latch never caught the post on the frame. This is clearly a safety issue. An elderly or disabled driver may not be able to get out in the case of an emergency. Not everyone is physically capable of folding themselves up and climbing over the armrest into the passenger seat. Also, it stands to reason that if the door may not latch shut, it may open while driving down the road.
I have water in my back floor and my heat and air doesnt work sometime. We took it to the dealership they couldnt find where the water was coming from.
I was driving through the intersection and the vehicle just stopped while going about 15-20 mph. The check engine light came on and I attempted to push the vehicle. The abs has engaged and the vehicle would not move. Until giving gas and letting vehicle rev up to 4,000 rpm it jumped into gear and began to drive normal again. Now the vehicle drives but revs at 2-3 gear and then just slows down, there were 13 fault reads from cpu which were all transmission control module fault and cpu malfunction. This happened out of no where and standard maintenance does get performed. I am told my warranty expired 2 months ago because they said that's the month it went to the dealership. I thought it went off when the vehicle was driven off the lot. I am due to pcs in 56 days to a new duty station and now my family and I are in a bind, I love Chevrolet but I am at a loss right now with a very unsafe vehicle that will drive fine and out of no where rev up and just stop.
While driving my vehicle the power assisted front seat moved forward approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the right portion of the seat. This also happened when turning the vehicle as well, e. G. If to the left the right portion of the seat would move forward, if the turn was to the right the right portion of the seat would move back. Eventually the driver's seat sloped downward to the right. This created a hazardous situation while driving. I have owned many cars and never once have I had a seat break like this. Apparently this is a problem with gm vehicles from what I have been able to read. Gm refused to admit that this is their fault and I am out almost a $1,000. 00 to have there problem fixed.
It first started on June 8th I went to the store and when I came out I unlocked my door with the key but the door wouldn't open from the inside or outside on the driver side. It appeared as if the latch weren't latching on in the inside of the door panel. I called around and finally someone was able to get me in by prying into my door and pressing the unlock button to unlock the other side. I climbed in for three days then out of nowhere it opened to my surprised. I was getting ready to take it in to see about getting it fixed when I went to get in that afternoon it stopped working again. Getting frustrated I made an appointment at chevy but it would take 3 weeks to get in so I left the vehicle parked and used public transportation. A friend of mine tried to open it on July 5th 2015 and it still wont open. I have an new alarm and the only way I can drive it is still by climbing over to the driver seat almost 2 months later. There's a lot of complaints abouth the 2010 Malibu doors not opening and something needs to be done about it. I haven't reached the 50000 mile point yet on that car and I'm very frustrated because it's always something.
Everytime it rains or I go thru a car wash water leaks in the car. . I've had the seal replaced and I'm still having the problem. . I'm concerned this could cause damage to other parts of my car.
The transmission failed on this vehicle. Iaw gm doc# 2894053 technical bulletin this is caused by a broken 3-5-r apply (waved) plate (507). The mechanic stated this plate is too thin for these vehicles and when they break down, they totally destroy a good transmission and the driver will never know until the vehicle is powering down to safe mode (going from 65 to 40 in less then a minute) and there is no reverse. The vehicle gave a false check engine light codes and never showed there was a inside transmission problem. Codes were p0776 and pi0780. If it was not for the fact that it was not a busy day. I could have easily been rear ended and then this 3-5-r defect would have been blamed on the crash. This is a known problem and this should be repalce by gm. This has cost me $2,881. 88, and 3 lost work days. Gm should be held accountable for their shoddy cheap parts.
My 2010 chevy Malibu lt 2. 4l won't go into park and shifter feels loose. If I put it in park position it slides down to reverse. In order to take the key out the ignition I have to set my emergency brake put the shifter to (p) and take my keys out. When I do that I don't know if the parking is engaged or in reverse. Everything else works and drives just fine. I took it to a transmission shop and they told me that the component has a NHTSA safety recal in effect campaign # 12v460000. They recommended to take the car to the chevy dealer. . . I took the car to chevy dealer and they told me that there is no recall on that. Only recalls they have is #13036- #10085. They couldn't see my car at the moment do to being backed up. So I took it to Toyota and they took it in. They told me they found shifter cable ripped and inop causing vehicle not to engage into gears properly. It seems that NHTSA safety recal #12v460000 sounds about right with what I read online.
Drivers door failed to open at times. Drivers door opened while driving.
Esc and traction graphic and text alarms have been initializing intermittently while driving at various speeds since March 2015. On 4/7/2015 and again on 4/13/2015, after starting the car these two alarms initialized along with the power steering alarm and there was a loss of power steering. In each case, turning off the engine reset the alarms and the power steering restored. Loss of power steering at highway speeds particularly in a curve or while making a turn could cause a serious accident. I now feel very unsafe and insecure while driving this vehicle.
When tried to put on the turn signal for the direction to the right, the turn signal arm wouldn't engage and had to try several times to get it to signal. Since then, the turn signal arm only works intermittently.
Yesterday I sent an e-mail about the turn signal indicator arm malfunctioning for the right turn signal on my 2010 chevy Malibu. It got to the point yesterday that if I wanted to indicate a right turn I had to constantly hold up the arm to get it to signal. Today I took it in to be repaired and it cost me $218. 00. The mechanic told me that he has replaced close to a hundred of these in the last few years and that it seems to be a common problem with gm products. This is definitely a safety issue and it could have gotten me pulled over by a policeman for not signaling. All the other cars that I've owned have never had this problem. This is why we won't be buying any other gm products. We've had to take the Malibu in for a total of 5 recalls so far. Come on now -- don't you think this is a bit excessive??.
Dec 16. I have been having issues opening and closing my driver side door. The latch won't hook correctly. I have the door close, because if I open it won't close. It's difficult to open from the inside and out side. Right now I have to climb over to the passenger side to be able to get out of my car. Apparently this is a common problem with my make and module of car. Its definitely a hazard.
Me and my mother were driving down the road when my car came to a complete stop cutting off in the middle of traffic. Earlier that day my car seems as if it didn't want to start . If finally started and when it did the outcome was it cutting off in the middle of traffic. Several others whom I know that have Chevrolet Malibu's are also having this same issue and I think Chevrolet needs to take the time and check the ignition m.
When I try to put my car in park it will not go into the park position. I have to put the car in neutral with the emergency brakes on in order to turn the car off. The key can not be removed and I have to disconnect the battery. The gears automatically slides from r to l without pressing the button. I was told there was a recall in 2012 for the shift lever and that the part expired a year later when the previous owner had it. I recently purchased the vehicle 8 months ago. I have taken my car to Chevrolet and they confirm it is the shift lever. I am required to pay for the fix even though there was a recall almost 2 years ago which appears to me to be the same problem.
While driving the vehicle the vehicle will lose power, engine will stop running, and vehicle will not restart. This has happened 6 times now (since late 2014) we have had it to the dealership on all occasions. First they could not duplicate the problem after the vehicle was started. Then they said it was the fuse panel, after it lost power and quit running after less than 10 miles they said it was an issue with the computer. We just got it back Saturday 2/14/2015 and today 2/17/2015 it happened again. Last time they said it was a problem with grounds 104 & 107 and did a global reset. We have e-mailed the ceo of gm and spoken to an executive from headquarters. They don't seem to comprehend the safety issues involved in a vehicle that will lose power at any time. Please help us. It is an unsafe vehicle. We are unsure of exact date/dates of each incident. The date stated above is an estimate.
Followed safety recall letter instructions to schedule installation of body control module part kooz chevy dealer in white marsh, MD says they do not have part and will take 3 weeks to order I object to this failure since letter says to act quickly since I am at risk of crash.
Vehicle was parked and caught on fire when it was not running. The vehicle was in use earlier in the day. The fire started under the hood and burned the entire front of the car and caused some interior damage as well.
Dealership states that all they have to fix according to recall 13036 is the body control module. The traction control and electronic stability control, illumination light flashing off and on saying service soon, although mentioned in recall letter, is not included and we must pay over $350 to repair to problem.
I received a recall notice 1 week prior to this incident. Recall #13036. I was almost rear ended when my brake lights failed. I was on my way home from work and watched my stability control and traction warning lights come on. I contacted gm and was told that no replacement parts are available. Gm also stated that they are not responsible for towing or a rental even though it is a defect in the design and/or manufacture of the body control module. I have been without a car for 4 days at this point and gm stated that no replacement parts are yet available. My car is a shiny peice of junk that I can pay for yet cannot drive because of the defect. I am a veteran and I am absolutely disgusted. All of the above problems are directly related to the defective part.
While on the highway the service traction control warning light came on as did the esc warning light. I tried to engage the cruise control but it would not work. We stopped at a rest area and turned the ignition off for about 20 minutes. We resumed our trip with the cruise control engaged and traveled for approx. 10 minutes. At that point the warning lights illuminated and the cruise control would not work. Every time we drive the car now, the warning lights now come on within a quater mile. I saw a recall for this same problem but was told my VIN number was not included. The car is at the dealers and will be repaired. Hopefully. I think my car and many others should be under a recall.
I drive a chevy Malibu 2010. Around 3 pm I had barely drop of my wife at her work site. When I was doing a u turn to head back home I had the reverse gear to back up but has soon has I put the drive gear my car wouldn't move. I tried the rest of the gears but none work. I was stuck in the middle of the street blocking traffic. My car is like stuck in the parking gear mode and even though I try the other driving gears none of them work. I called the agency and they told me to call a tow truck to bring it in. I told the agent to do all the recall that were out for my vehicle. The agent said he would call me when this was done. It's been 2 days and I haven't heard anything from my car till this point. I was looking up the recalls and found one with this exact problem but it's only for chevy Malibu 2013. This recall number is 14048. I wanted to know if there is going to be a recall for the 2010 models. The miles on my vehicle are approximately about 43,300.
