Lose Power Steering problems of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

While the vehicle is in motion, radio and other electrics go blank, steering wheel feels locked up but I assume it has lost power steering. This has happened multiple times. It corrects itself in few seconds but once nearly swerved into a car as the wheel would not turn.

When I was on my way home, my car's warning lights started to flicker, and �power steering service� and �charging system� warning lights appeared. My entire dash went completely black and steering wheel became completely hard. The car stayed on, but all the lights went off. After a few seconds, the car shut off. Car would not restart, even with a jump. Mileage on car was at 110,000 miles. Luckily I was on a residential street, so I just pushed the car safely in front of a random house. Upon further examination, this appears to be an on going problem. I've found hundreds of other owners with a similar problem on various forums. Some are very similar to my problem, while others are more dangerous. Below, I have quoted other owners personal stories as well �the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 60 mph, the power steering malfunctioned and caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local Chevrolet dealer (phil smith Chevrolet, 1640 north state rd 7, lauderdale, FL 33313). The dealer reset the power steering module, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000. � �charging system" engine light keep coming on. All lights come on dash board come on then go dim. While the vehicle is in motion the radio screen would flash off and on followed by lose of power steering the car was parked and towed to a local dealership to be inspected.

This is my second report. The vehicle loses power steering and the entire gauge cluster goes dark. Almost caused a wreck today. It happened twice today and once yesterday. This is getting out of hand. Needs to be recalled immediately. Thank you.

Car is causing the battery to go bad. When the battery goes bad the whole car starts acting up; lose power steering, steering wheel locks up, dash lights flicker until turned off, in dash screen turns off before car dies. After I bought the car three months later my battery went bad (car started acting funny and gradually declined in quality over a week's time) I replaced the battery and now 2 years later the battery is bad again. This is a dangerous car to be in as the whole car dies while driving and the steering wheel locks up on the highway. This happens while driving. It has happened on the highway, interstate, parking lot and city street. Two different batteries should not go bad before there life time. I believe this has something to do with the car itself and also the car should not be designed for the steering wheel to lock up and remain solely on the normal battery.

While getting on the expressway the car cut off on the ramp while going 24mph. I was unable to turn on hazard lights, nothing at all would work. I could not immediately restart the car. I could not remove the key either. I had to wait approximately 3 mins for the car to light up and then I could restart the car. On the way home on the ramp on the expressway the car lost power steering and jerked to the left. The enigine did not stop this time. In this case fortunately there were no injuries.

I was driving about 70mph on the interstate with the radio and cruise control set and I hit the blinkered to change lanes and the radio and cruise control shut off and I lost power steering for a moment. This happened multiple times. I took it to the dealership and supposedly it was fixed. Two days later it did the same thing. Sometimes if you roll the window up or down it shuts the radio off. Sometimes when you are driving and click the brights on the radio ahuts off and thw entire dash goes black and I lose all power including the steering and the engine revs. Sometimes I will be driving at low speeds in town and if I slightly accelerate the radio shuts off. Once I was at a stop light and I had my turn signal on to make a left turn and when the light turned green I began to accelerate and the car lost all power and died in the middle of the intersection. Too many incidents to go into detail here. Has been at the dealership twice and they say there IA nothing wrong with it. I even called gm directly to report the issue and all they did was waive my diagnostic fee and say nothing is wrong and next time it does it to bring it back. I was on my way home from the dealership and it happened again so I guess I'll take it back again in the morning. Seems like gm isn't going to do anything about this until someone is seriously injured or killed. I have had this car less than 2 months. I keep reading complaint after complaint about the same issues I am having yet no recall and gm acts like this is the first time they are hearing about this kind of problem.

Power steering goes out and steering wheel jerks when this happens. First radio light all go off, then steering jerks and lose power steering and dash lights go off, then flash. This all lasts 5-10 seconds, then everything is normal. Had car to dealer to fix same problem 4 days prior to it happening again. This occurs usually while highway driving and when steering jerks and you lose power steering it is surprising and have almost hit several vehicles while going 55-65mph. Sometimes occurs while driving in town and turning, especially turning right. I have also contacted chevy and they tell me they are not aware of any of these problems with these cars. Also said they would contact my car dealer and call me back in 2 days. I have heard nothing back from them.

As I am driving either on the highway at over 70 mph or in the city I have lost all power to the vehicle. Loss of power steering, power breaks everything. The car shuts completely down and just before all the check engine and service lights flash through. This has happened 4 times and the last time I was pulling into apple valley motors in martinsburg wv parking lot, lost power and hit the curb and blew out a tire because I lost power steering. The dealer will do nothing about it there are many of the same complaints for the same problem on chevy Malibu forum. Com finally someone suggested that we should report the problem here. I have had to put 3 batteries in the year that I owned it. Not only this but the transmission and engine both went bad at the same time. I only have 86k on it. I contacted both gm and chevy and explained the situation and neither one will assist me. They gave me a case number but in the end they said there is nothing they can do because all warranties have expired. ( they expired because of the date, I am still under the mileage portion of the warranty) as of right now my car is at the dealership because I can't afford to have it fixed and the dealership, gm/chevy or the third party warranty that expired 8 days after they replaced the transmission will not help either. Luckily I only hit a curb at a very slow speed. I could have killed someone. This has happened both on the highway and in the city while I am in motion. The dealership that I purchased it at had to change the battery in the trunk during the first 30 days that I owned it. That fixed the problem for a while. But I don't know if that is the cause of this problem or not. The first time this happened was app 4 months ago and has happened a total of 4 times since then. And still the no one will help or look into the issue. The most recent was last week.
