The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that after he replaced his radiator, his vehicle caught fire. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed and no injuries were reported. The contact was not certain if a police/fire report was filed. The vehicle had yet to be towed and remained in the possession of the contact. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of failure. The vehicle was a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

This car has the auto/stop function. There is no way to cut this off according the the owners manual or online research. Not everytime but it happens alot. Be driving stop at a red light, the auto stop kicks in. When the light turn green, step on gas car is suppose to start, does not start. You have to put in park, turn key off, attempt to crank again before you can go. Meanwhile people are avoiding hitting you in the rear not knowing you are not moving etc. On the Malibu forum you will see muliple compliants from Malibu owners 2014-2016 with this same complaint! I called gm no response . Its going to take someone getting killed or injured for gm to do a recall. This is not safe to drive- people could rear end me , sitting in middle of a road not moving!! this has happened to me at least 6 times in the last few months. There is nothing in owners manual telling how to disable this function. . Its useless. . Death trap! please force gm to have a recall on these vehicles before there are lawsuits involving deaths!!! I will never buy another gm product!!.

Automatic start/stop feature is faulty! when it activates, it prevents the engine from restarting for several minutes. This puts myself and others in my car at a major risk of getting in an accident. I have so far been lucky and avoided any accidents. Several thousand has ben spent to try and fix the issue, with no luck.

2014 Malibu lt with the auto stop issues. My auxiliary batter was replaced and everything was good until my engine light came on can’t even remember exactly but the code was for the rocker arm control valve and oil pressure sensor. I replaced vvt solenoid also the intake and exhaust solenoid. Shortly after that, maybe 2 months or so after was when the auto stop started having issues. After the suto stop is engaged and my foot comes off the brake, it fails to restart after two failed attempts. I’ll manually restart it and it might start right away but sometimes wont start until the 2nd or 3rd try.

My car is throwing a rocker arm valve code but chevy is saying its not covered under the NHTSA program that was passed. Its a 2014 chevy Malibu 2. 5 l with 93000 miles on it. It causes the auto stop to malfunction and the car will completely shut down when stopped. It will not restart at all. Have been almost hit 3 times at major intersections.

Gov vehicle was traveling north on the baltimore washington parkway near interstate 695. The steering and brakes failed, and the driver moved the vehicle safely to the shoulder and exited the vehicle. The vehicle began to smoke and caught fire. The traction control , steering, brake and abs warning lamps appeared.

Driving on interstate after work around 12 am & reduced engine power appears on screen, car slows down & I couldn't accelerate more than 10mph & had to keep pulling over to turn engine on & off. Terrifying! read other complaints about this just now & needs to be recalled ASAP before someone is injured or worse especially driving on a busy interstate/highway.

For a few years after purchasing my vehicle I noticed sometimes it would stutter or throttle and surge while driving, but every time I took it to the dealer they were "unable to duplicate" the problem. Now the source of the problem I believe is error code p16d0, but there is no recall on this part that is mentioned in this code. General motors should compensate vehicle purchasers who have run into this issue.

The vehicle stops while in motion and in driving gear then wheel lock up. Making it unable to proceed to turn or drive. This does not matter if on highway or public street. Had to have car towed to cottmans and the mechanic stated that this issue is known and was covered by manufacturers under codes p0011 and p2646. Your assistance is needed with resolving this matter as my car is not driveable.

Drivability issues due to intake rocker arm oil control valve. Vehicle occasionally surges while driving and misfires due to a faulty rocker arm assembly currently not produced by gm.

Chevrolet did a terrible job creating a engine then discontinuing parts to it. The rocker arm oil control valve is a known failure point on this vehicle and they discontinued it.

I been trying to order part 916806 this I've been needing it for a while a variable valve timing solenoid I feel like I been ripped off because no one been able to get this part has this part been replace as another part what am I to do I need my car. I can't get my admission done to get my plates.

The vehicle has sudden loss of power due to the failure of the intake rocker arm vvt oil control valve. Gm has halted production on this part with no viable solution or replacement option. Gm p#12633613. This issue has happened multiple times in the past 6 months.

I purchased my chevy Malibu brand new all maintenance has been done as recommended my the dealership now part #12633613 has went out and I have been told by the dealership and general motors that the part is not available for purchase meanwhile I am left with a car that can not be drove.

The vehicle began to decelerate speed and seized. The vehicle was towed to blossom Chevrolet located at 1850 shadeland Ave, indianapolis, in 46219, where it was diagnosed with needing engine to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to penske Chevrolet (indianapolis) located at 3210 e 96th st, indianapolis, in 46240, where they noticed the spark plug were covered in oil and needing to be cleaned and replaced. The dealer replaced the plugs but when trying to start the ignition the engine started to smoke and was unable to start the ignition. The vehicle was diagnosed with cylinder number 3 and engine to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 46,500. Dp.

I have been waiting on the intake rocker arm control valve since December 2019. Apparently gm has discontinued this part for Malibus and impalas. They are saying it is on back order. I am still paying on my vehicle and this should be apart of a recall. There is thousands of us that is waiting on this part and this is so unfair. I am terrified that something else is going to happen to my engine if this is not fixed soon.

My car has been in need a gm part for almost eight months. The part # is 12633613. I have spoken with chevy representatives over a dozen times. Despite discontinuing the engine that requires this part and the many complaints and people who can't operate their vehicles with this engine, chevy/general motors refuses to do a recall. The faulty part causes cars to jerk and shut off in the middle of the road. Before realizing the car wasn't fully operable, I was almost hit due to my inability to move forward. I have invested in chevy and I have taken great care of my car. One small solenoid rocker arm should not keep me from enjoying the vehicle I have purchased. Aside from the thousands of dollars loss from the car itself, I spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on transportation alternatives. I need some remedy in this case as chevy will not admit the part has been discontinued (although a representative did admit to this) despite their stated requirement of producing or making available comparable parts for at least 10 years. I need help and I hope chevy is held accountable for these willful consumer violations.

On 11/19/19, I was driving on a side street (25 mph) when the reduced engine power light came on in my 2014 chevy Malibu. The car is driveable, but at speeds higher than 35 mph, the reduced power is noticeable. I immediately brought it to the dealership (matthews hargreaves Chevrolet in royal oak, mi) for repair. They identified the problem as being the rocker arm solenoid valve, but they were unable to fix it because gm is not currently making the part and it is unavailable through aftermarket. For nearly a month, I have been stuck with a car that is only barely usable. On colder days, my car has a more difficult time with even handling low speeds and I'm terrified that it's going to become completely inoperable before this is fixed. The dealership I took it to currently has 6 vehicles with the same problem, but are in non-driveable condition. The dealer has also informed me that over 50 cars around the country are having the same problem. Gm has been contacted about the problem, but they have refused to do anything to help despite being aware that this is a known issue.

The fire department was called and extinguished the flames. The vehicle was destroyed. A fire report was filed. The cause of the fire was not determined. Cannon motors (69900 highway 82 west, greenwood, ms) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The engine light is on and at times the car loses power! trying to get parts since October 2019 was told no one is contracted to make the part and gm has not been helpful !!.

Request #282669 complaint15 April, 2020 tracking # 11321107 the following complaint references my 2014 chevy Malibu, ecotec 2. 5l dohc engine, VIN #1g11c5sl4ef301268. Purchased 9/15/2014 from george hahas Chevrolet in wildwood, FL. The vehicle is currently under extended warranty with ~23,300 miles on it. In October 2019, the vehicle began running rough at 20-25 miles per hour (odometer: ~21,000) and the vehicle engine light turned on. The engine gas mileage also decreased. I took it in for repair and was told that the rocker arm valve needed to be replaced (under warranty). In addition, the engine would need to be cleaned due to the excessive carbon build up due to the malfunctioning part. This clean-up was not under warranty, even though it was caused by a defective warranted part. I was told it was safe to drive the car until the engine light began to flash. At that point I was to pull to the side of the road and have the vehicle towed as it would no longer be drivable. This repair was attempted during the gm worker strike and the part was not available. After the strike, I was informed that the part was not available from gm or any aftermarket manufacturer. After waiting until the end of the year, I again contacted nahas Chevrolet and was told that the part was not available, and gm had no plans to produce it. Further, a warranted part was not available from any manufacturer. I was also informed that over 20 vehicles at this single dealership needed this same part. On March 2, 2020 I contacted gm consumer services (case # 9-5847264087). They informed me that they were informed that gm had no plans to make this part and knew of no aftermarket manufacturer who could supply a warranted part. They told me of three unwarranted manufacturers, but if the part ever caused further damage to the vehicle, the repairs would not be under warranty.

Engine light keeps coming on while driving or stationary. I had a diagnostics test done they said it is the rocker arm solenoid. They said there is a national back order and 1 of our local dealers had 6 cars waiting for this part at the time and had already been waiting for several months. This is obviously a manufacturing defect that gm should be doing a recall for.

The engine light came on. Took it to my mechanic. He told me that the valve rocker arm oil control is bad. He told me I am the 9th in the que just from lansing area and the part is back ordered since August 2019. He ordered the part from shaheen Chevrolet. I called the gm help line. Initially they were very helpful but later they called me and said they can't do any thing. The car is standing outside on the road and I am paying the insurance and just paid the registration. The defective part numbers are 12633613 and 12634467 (gasket + part). Gm case number is 9-5813783154. The person who took my call was thanna and the date I called was 2/13/2020.

Have been needing a repair but the part has been unavailable for months. We need the oil control valve and part number 12633613. Gm does not know when the part will be available, so no way for the car to be fixed.

Part number 12633613 is faulty and gm doesn't have a replacement part available. Car has been sitting for the last 4 months.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to defective rocker arm oil control valve. Consumer is also seeking reimbursement for out of pocket costs related to repairs. The consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair. The manufacturer advised the part necessary to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The consumer had the vehicle repaired with aftermarket equipment as suggested by the manufacturer. The consumer requested to be reimbursed for the cost of repairs.

When I come to a full stop at a red light or stop sign, when my car tries to use the auto stop feature the majority of the time it fails to start back on which causes it to fully turn off while the key is still turned and the car is in drive as if the car was still driving. I don't know what this problem is nor do I know what's causing it. I changed my spark plugs thinking that might of been the problem but it still continues to do the same malfunction. Please help.

My car has been serviced on time every time in dealership and was in excellent shape. On 10th June 2014, my engine just stopped while I was driving on the highway with speed limit of 70 mph. It was extremely dangerous situation for me and any accident could have happened. Luckily I was able to move my car to right most lane before my vehicle completely stopped with indicators on. Then an officer helped me push the car to curbside later. When the engine stopped working my car was at high speed 70 mph and there was very high risk of an accident. The mechanic at dealer told me that the number 4 vale has thrown a rod (basically piston has broken) inside the cylinder and engine is completely damaged. He said this should happen at 59,000 miles (my car mileage) . I found technical service bulletin about the issue and I firmly believe that because of the severity of the issue NHTSA should consider putting this under recall. Gm told me your car is out of warranty by 30 days and even if it was faulty part they will not cover it 100%. When the brake pedal was released, the vehicle restarted and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact powered off the engine. When the vehicle was restarted, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 61,600.

Tamara recall check engine turn on and when eco turns on my radio turns off.

I started my car and drove about 1/4 of a mile and a warning light came up on my car stating engine power reduced. Pulled over put car in park turned car off then on then drive. Car did fine for about a mile. Then car showed reduced engine power again and then completely shut off in middle of road and would not start back. Was in middle of curve going up hill. Car would not even roll when placed in neutral so that I could get it out of road.

My car cuts off at lights . These problems are in the drive shaft . The vvt thing.
