Check Engine Light On problems of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

My vehicle acts as if it doesnt want to start after being at a red light or stop sign when my feet is released off the break it takes a few seconds to start back up. Also I have issues with check engine light coming on took it to auto zone and they received a code dealing with the wiring on the battery not the actual battery needing to be replaced.

While operating my vehicle at approximately 50 mph on a busy highway I received a check engine light, traction control light and a warning that the engine power has been reduced. After all of those warnings my vehicle immediately slowed to 20 mph and would not speed up.

Check engine light came on and power reduction light came on and car slowed down with no power. This also happened 2 weeks ago. Local mechanic said it was a recall item, but I havent seen any.

After pulling out of a convenient store, onto a main road for about a half a mile my car immediately lost speed and a display appeared in my dash engine power reduced , check engine light and traction control light appeared. I couldn't drive no more than 20 miles per hour . . Scary moment, so glad nothing was coming behind me. Car in shop! this need to be fix it's a many people having the same problem with this year kind of car somebody is going to get killed fix the problem for free GMC.

I started to accelerate and the check engine light came on and reduced engine power was on my information display and my car would not go over 30 mph. Just happened out of the blue. I have approximately 64,000 miles on my Malibu. This happened on a city street and not in heavy traffic, but could have been very dangerous, if I was on a highway. Then after I limped the car home I turned it off and turned it back on and it seemed normal, but check engine light is still on. I am getting rid of this car has had 5 recalls of various problems so far. On one occasion the dealership had my car for 2 weeks. . . Trying to fix a problem with the accelerator.

Car died in the middle of a busy intersection and wouldn't restart for approximately 2 minutes. Check engine light came on and reduced engine power on dash cluster was visible when it restarted. Dealership placed new battery & it went away for about a week then returned while driving in the 45 mph range, reduced engine power, then slow acceleration from a stop sign. Seems there have been multiple class action lawsuits for this issue with no recall in place at this time.

Check engine light, tracking light, steering wheel locks up , low engine and can't exceed 45 ~ 50 mph all happens when in motion.

My car randomly displayed a message on the dashboard that said "engine power reduced" traction light and check engine light appeared and it brought my speed limit to around 20 while I was on a busy street. I turned the car off and got the power back but has done it 3 more time in 2 days. Very scary with 2 babies in the car.

While driving, vehicle with randomly display error code saying �engine power reduced�. When this happens, the car's speed reduces to ~25 mph and it's incredibly hard to accelerate past that. This reduced engine power warning comes on frequently, and without warning. Sometimes it will go weeks without doing it, and sometimes it will do it multiple times a trip. Every time it happens, the engine light & traction control light comes on. The only thing that temporarily fixes the car is pulling over, turning the entire car off, then turning it back on. This obviously is very dangerous while driving with any traffic around you. Once I turn my car back on, the check engine light remains on (traction light turns off), and then eventually turns off by itself (granted it doesn't happen again soon after). After speaking to other chevy owners, I've learned this is very common & I've even been able to find posts on online forums regarding this issue.

While driving check engine light came on , display said diminished engine power , no throttle response.

I was driving the vehicle and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the display read engine power reduced. I wasn't sure what that meant so I pulled over. I tried to pull off and I had no brakes. Apparently something in the braking system broke and my engine was destroyed. I talked with gm and they told me that it has happened before with this model car.

Was driving the car on the highway the speed control was on the car powered down almost made us wreck and the check engine light came on followed by the power down alert the car was dragging in speed and could not excelerate. There is only 35000 miles on this vehicle.

As I was exiting the freeway and stoped on the off ramp, I tried to step on the gas pedal to go but my car did not want to go. My steering wheel was locked, my bluetooth cut off, and the check engine light went on. I turned on my hazard lights and put my car in park. I tried to shut it off but it didn't shut off right away. Engine power is reduced warning and check engine light anti skid warnings come on.

Check engine light, traction control light both on, reduced engine power, speed and transmission shifting limited, cant go pass 3 gear. Started randomly on numerous occasion while driving. Very dangerous.

Faulty sensor on my car almost caused me to lose NY life on the highway today. While driving my check engine light came on and I got the message � engind power reduced � car would not let me accelerate , hit a wall on the shoulder of the highway rushing to safety I now have a dent in my car , sad part is this is a known problem! we are also getting a � shift to park � error message which is another issue , that the dealer said I had to pay for‼️ ridiculous about to contact a lawyer Chevrolet has no regaurd for human life.

While driving, engine goes into reduced power mode without warning and unable to maintain speed. Check engine light starts blinking and acceleration is lost. This happened twice, on a highway and on a road. Getting to the side of the road safely was very difficult. Onstar sent an email notification of the critical failure.

I was driving down the interstate doing 74 miles an hour when all of a sudden the car jerked and started slowing down. The display screen showed a messaging saying engine power reduced. I pulled over on the shoulder because it wouldn't let me accelerate and had slowed the car down to 50 mph. I sat there for a minute and was going to try to drive on the shoulder to the next exit. Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine). The vehicle was serviced for this recall at local dealer autonation Chevrolet waco located at 1625 n valley mills dr, waco, TX 76710, (254) 236-6415. The contact stated shortly after the vehicle was serviced, while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to seize but was able to park on the side of the road. The contact stated he was able to restart the ignition but continued to experience the failure while driving to his destination. The contact stated check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called local dealer and was informed he was needing to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired of the failure. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 46,000. Dp.

I came to a stop at the traffic light. When green light came on the car stalled, would not restart. After 5th attempt car restarted. Check engine light came on and stayed on. I took the car to the dealership, they said they did not know how to fix, so they have contacted gm. Still waiting for response ; its been 10 days. Car has 6300 miles on it. Event occurred on city st, afternoon traffic.

Vehicle experienced reduced power before learning about and addressing the recall. A couple of months following my vehicle began to shut off and restart while giving various error messages. This occurred while going speeds less than 35 mph and while stopped. The dealership determined it was a faulty battery censor and was not covered under the warranty. I have had the part replaced and did not experience any issues for roughly 2 weeks. My vehicle today gave a error message that engine power is reduced and the check engine light is on. It is also hesitating/jumping when switching from drive to either reverse or park.

Since July 2019 my vehicle has continually shown a check engine light with the message, power engine reduced on the dashboard. When this occurs, the rpms increase drastically and vehicle can not go over 30 mph. This has happened on highways and main roads. It is very dangerous because I can be going 65 mph on the highway and all of a sudden it drops down to 30mph. This has almost caused accidents multiple times. I have attached multiple service records where I have had the vehicle worked on, but yet the issue still occurs at anytime. The vehicle is very unsafe to drive. There has been recalls on this issue and althought he dealerships say they fixed it for my vehicle, it still occurs. I have contacted gm and have not gotten an answer or had the problem resolved and it has been over a month I have been working with them. There last reasoning for not giving me a resolution was because they were waiting on service records, yet I called the dealerships and had the service records in less than an hour.

While driving my 2018 Malibu with only 7500 miles on it, the car would not accelerate. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and the car had no power and I almost was in a crash with another vehicle. A lot of lights came on the dashboard and the gauges went to zero. An error message displayed that said something like engine power reduced and the check engine light came on. The gas gauge and others acted like the car was shut off. This is very dangerous for me and my family as traffic in the northern virginia area is very heavy. I pulled to the side of the road and shut the car off. I tried to restart it and it would not restart for 10 minutes. When it did restart the check engine light was still on and the car still had very limited power. This needs fixed ASAP. It is currently at the dealer where I bought it from in November of 2018. I told them about the power problem when I had the first service oil change done and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I bought a new car so that I wouldn't have any problems and now I have to deal with this product that no one wants to fix. Please find a solution to this problem as it is life threatening.

The vehicle was taken to hendrick Chevrolet Buick GMC southpoint dealer, (127 kentington dr, durham, nc 27713) where it was repaired on recall under NHTSA campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine) however, the contact stated that the repair did not correct the failure. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. Aw.

I bought my car a few weeks ago, my check engine light come on and off I have a certified warranty. The warning that pops is when I start my car say �reduce engine power� and it messes with my lights as well as my gas pedal to where I can't go. It's very dangerous, especially when on the highway.

This is the third time this instance has occured. The vehicle dash stated "reduced engine power" and the check engine light appears. This slows the vehicle to an almost complete stop. Luckily I have either been in traffic, in a parking lot and a green light when this happens but this is an issue. I am in motion.

I was driving my 2018 chevy Malibu LS that I haven't owned for more then 30 days and my check engine light came on in the driveway when I started it up to let it warm since it was winter so I took it to christenson Chevrolet in highland indiana and the code u01b0 came up which is the battery sensor module and the dealer told me there is no fix for it and engineering is looking into it and the paperwork they gave me shows they have had this problem with the 2017 and 2018 models and no fix yet. They are selling cars with defects and I told them I wanted a different model or same model and they told me I had to talk to corporate which I did and corporate told me I had to talk to the dealer so now I am in the workings of filing a lawsuit for lemon law since they have no intention on fixing this problem since now the remote start won't work since this issue and corporate isn't doing anything which is fine because the courts will work this out Chevrolet use to be a good reliable company but not anymore.
