The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while his daughter was operating the vehicle, there was a loud sound coming from the front driver’s side of the vehicle. Upon inspection it was discovered that the front driver’s side wheel spokes were cracked and damaged. The contact indicated that four of the five-wheel spokes were cracked and one had completely severed and the wheel needed to be replaced. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,160.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the tpms warning light kept randomly illuminating. In addition, the contact noticed that air was leaking from all four tires. A mechanic inspected the tires and stated that the factory rims wheel wells fractured internally and were prematurely deteriorating. The mechanic recommended that all four rims needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no recommendation. The approximate failure mileage was 138,824.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. He took his vehicle to the dealer for routine service , and the dealer stated that the rims on both passenger side wheels were bent. The dealer speculated that he struck a pothole. However he never struck a pothole while driving. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 7,975.

Aluminum alloy tire rims: I own a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu, and the problem is with the rims. I am on my third purchased replacement rim for the vehicle. The problem is that when the tire goes through a chuck or pot hole in the road they are cracking, causing deflation of the tire. I feel that this is a problem since the dealership where I purchased the vehicle tells me that they have been replacing alot of these rims.
