Our 2000 Monte Carlo supersport was parked and had been off for approximately 15 minutes. Before that, it had been driven for approcimatley 30 minutes and parked for about an hour. Someone came in to tell me it was smoking. There was a great deal of smoke coming from under the hood. We called the fire department and before they could arrive, the car was engulfed. While it was burning, we could hear it trying to start! there is nothing left of the front, engine compartment, or interior, except for the frames. Only the trunk area and right rear tire were untouched.

I was stopped at a red light at the intersection of 31st street and la grange highway when I noticed smoke coming from under the hood of my car. I pulled into the cit-go gas station thinking my Monte Carlo was over heating. Then, flames began to come from the under the hood. I immediately called 911 and the la grange park police and fire department came within minutes. They had to saw my hood open to put the fire out and I immediately contacted gm. They notified me that my vehicle is in fact a recall and was negligent in sending me the registered vehicle owner any sort of notice of recall. Gm is denying fault and refuses to repair the vehicle or grant any sort of responsibility or compensation. Although they are responsible for the manufacturer defect they still refuse liability.

Vehicle is developing body sheet-metal rust due to an apparent manufacturer painting defect or incomplete paint during the assembly process. Both rear quarter panels have begun rusting in the same areas, on the "spot-welds" or "punch-welds" where the inner and outer fenders are welded together. A local Chevrolet dealership has physically inspected vehicle, and supposedly submitted repair estimate to general motors to see if company would repair. This occurred on Tuesday, July 26, but have heard from neither dealership nor general motors (mileage at time of estimate approx. 43,000).

July 7,2014 my mother (norma j snellen) was crossing dixie hwy. In louisville, kentucky. Motorcycle hit her on the right side of the car. Motorcyclist died at the seen of accident. My mother has been suffering from post truma. The car was taken to lmpd impound lot and was on lock down for a investigation to take place. I was allowed pick car up at impound approximately 9/30/2014. When I checked to see if it would start the igintion was not completely off the key was turned back enough to turn motor off but not enough to take keys out of the ignition. Norma says motorcylist was far enough away to stop if the car was still rolling. She not sure what happened for him to hit her that hard. Please reply to this claim ASAP. My 2001 montecarlo was hit in front with front end damage and the air bags didn't go off causing my girl friend to have a broken nose . . The vehicle was in motion on a city street in the turning lane.

My 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS developed a water leak in it on the passenger side in the floor area coming from under the dash. The car is going to be repaired at the same dealership where I bought it new. I was informed by the repair person there has been similar problems with other models made by gm (Buick was mentioned). It appears there is a defect in an area under the dash on the passenger side where a passenger air filter was supposed to be but not in my car. In that area, rainwater builds up and swells some seals and eventually lets water in through that defective area. I thought it would be worth reporting this since it has been in other vehicles as well. Please let me know if you may need more info or if this needs to be reported elsewhere.

Location of braze joints for roof to rear fenders are now evident. These were not apparent when purchased, seems as though the braze joints cannot withstand the forces of driving.

Both braze joints at roof to rear fender are now evident/exposed. This indicates to flexing in the vehicle, iam concerned that the vehicle can no longer withstand the forces of driving .

The center plastic console where stick shift is has peeled twice & an employee at the dealership stated to me that he had seen the same problems in corvettes (this employeee dosn't work at this dealership anymore) I have written to the manufacturer & I have a case #04248222 from the cust. Assistance at Chevrolet phone # 800-222-1020 spoke to michael steele on 5/1801 & also jonathan on 1/30/02 nobody seems to know or want to tell me if this is a manufacturers defect it might be the material they are using to finish this part on the vehicle is defective . Once my warranty is up I will have to bear the expense of replacing this plastic center console & it's not a cheap part. I would like the dealership at least to extend my warranty if the Chevrolet company ok's this. I can't be replacing this particular part every so many months indefenetely for the length of the life of this vehicle it's rediculous!.
