Our 2000 Monte Carlo supersport was parked and had been off for approximately 15 minutes. Before that, it had been driven for approcimatley 30 minutes and parked for about an hour. Someone came in to tell me it was smoking. There was a great deal of smoke coming from under the hood. We called the fire department and before they could arrive, the car was engulfed. While it was burning, we could hear it trying to start! there is nothing left of the front, engine compartment, or interior, except for the frames. Only the trunk area and right rear tire were untouched.

I was driving 55 mph and my speedometer said I was doing 10mph. Then my tac stopped working. Then my speedometer stopped working totally. My driver side seat will not heat at all. My wheels are peeling. The chrome is peeling right off the wheels. My check engine light stays on all the time. I have had it checked for the code so they replaced the gas cap and did a reset within 75 miles the light came back on. I am giving up on Chevrolets. Every vehicle we own is a chevy, what's up with all these problems and no solutions???? with all the complaints on the electrical system you would think there would be a recall and a solution. When the heat on my seat stopped working it smelled like something was burning inside the car so I quickly shut it off and pulled the car over to check under my seat to may sure there was no fire. Thank goodness there wasn't a fire. I paid the extra money for the intimidator, what a waste.

July 7,2014 my mother (norma j snellen) was crossing dixie hwy. In louisville, kentucky. Motorcycle hit her on the right side of the car. Motorcyclist died at the seen of accident. My mother has been suffering from post truma. The car was taken to lmpd impound lot and was on lock down for a investigation to take place. I was allowed pick car up at impound approximately 9/30/2014. When I checked to see if it would start the igintion was not completely off the key was turned back enough to turn motor off but not enough to take keys out of the ignition. Norma says motorcylist was far enough away to stop if the car was still rolling. She not sure what happened for him to hit her that hard. Please reply to this claim ASAP. Sincerly, lisa doerr (daughter of norma snellen/currently caretaker for her now) 5101 lila Ave. Louisville, ky 40258 home;502-937-7479 evening cell: 502-931-7339 daytime.

I have a 2002 chevy impala and a 2004 chevy Monte Carlo. Right after my warranty expired on the Monte Carlo, my heated seat cover caught fire, caused personal injury and property damage. An adjuster came out to look at it and assured me that gm would fix the problem. 2 years later, I can't even get a return phone call. Since then I purchased a 2002 impala. Heated seats worked for 2 days and I noticed a burn starting in the same exact spot where the Monte Carlo caught fire. Gm wants me to pay another $90 for the dealer to verify that the heated seat cover problem is in fact a heated seat cover problem. These cars are not safe to drive and I don't feel safe after being burned by it. Gm needs to issue a recall. I've called gm many many times and every time, someone has closed the case on the impala. Supposedly, gm had issued a check to repair the Monte Carlo, but I never received it and they won't call me back about it. This issue needs to be recalled by either gm or the heated seat manufacturer. So far, only one person has been injured by the Monte Carlo. Since then, the heated seat has been disconnected. The impala seat has not yet caught fire, but a burn hole has started and when it started to get hot, the heated seat was immediately disconnected.

Since its been getting colder, I have been using my car seat warmers. I've been noticing in the last week that it has been getting extremely hot within a short amount of time & I'm noticing a burning smell. Yesterday I turned the driver seat, seat warmer on & it started to smoke & nearly sparked a fire in the seat. The stitching had started to smolder & burn. I immediately pulled over & turned the seat warmer off.
Metal bracket holding drivers seat snapped causing driver and seat to fall backwards while driving.

Drivers seat separates from where the side air bag is stored. Has been returned to the dealer several times but they have not been able to repair. They say that there could be a recall but Chevrolet does not seem to know anything about this. I have contaced Chevrolet several times with no satisfactory results, the last time I called customer service I was told that this problem was not consided the manufacturer's problem.

Front passenger seat was moving forward, dealer determined that track was broken. Track was replaced, but seat is still moving. The passenger seat does not lock but moves on tracks. The dealer tried to fix it four times but the problem still not solved. Consumer states that when you stop the vehicle you can hear it move.
The material on the driver's seat keeps pulling away from the side air bag leaving an unsightly hole in the seat back. The problem started as soon as I purchsed the car 11 months ago. I have taken the car in to the dealership for repair at least three times and have not had any satisfaction. The last two times I have been told that gm is preparing a technical bulletin with a fix but nothing so far. I have complained to Chevrolet and they checked with the dealer and were told they were trying. I was promised a free lof for my trouble. My main comcern is that I purchased a new car and have yet to have more than two days without the defect and unsightly seatback. I have owned gm products all of my life and I am seriously disappointed with the actions and efforts of the dealer and of the level of concern of Chevrolet.
I am a victim of a rear-end motor vehicle accident. The seats are designed to latch when the vehicle's brakes are suddenly applied and/or the vehicle suddenly comes to a stop (as per the owners manual). In my case, my vehicle was already at a stop and therefore the seat never latched. Consequently, the seat came forward and the head rest struck me like a two by four. My injuries were more severe because of this secondary impact from the head rest. My husband has a 1996 Chevrolet cheyenne pick-up truck that has the same seat design. In addition, in both vehicles even when the brakes are applied, the seats backs still come forward several inches before eventually locking.
