One problem related to tailgate latch has been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1998 Chevrolet, Silverado - tailgate has broken once with me on it and once with load on it within last 24months, I have had to replace both tailgate straps, and ther latch hardware one time.
