The office of defects investigation (odi) received defect petition dp10-003 on March 2, 2010, requesting the investigation of model year (my) 2003 Chevrolet silverado 2500hd 4wd pickup trucks for corrosion failures of the vehicle brake lines.

3 Electrical system wiring defect investigations of Chevrolet Silverado vehicles

This investigation was opened on Feb. 4, 2008. It was closed on Jun. 12, 2008. In response to an information request letter sent by the office of defects investigation(odi) during preliminary evaluation pe08-010, gm provided odi with 41 allegations of non-crash engine compartment fires including 16 allegations of fires originating with the ignition in the off position.

This investigation was opened on Dec. 8, 2003. It was closed on Apr. 9, 2004. Odi opened pe03-057 to assess parking brake ineffectiveness in the subject vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with four wheel disc brakes that incorporate a single-shoe drum-in-hat parking brake independent of the service brakes.

This investigation was opened on May. 11, 1999. It was closed on Nov. 27, 2001. This investigation resulted in a vehicle safety recall.
