Four problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated the vehicle made a whistling noise since purchase and would stall at an idle without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where it was determined the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The pump was not replaced, and this component is inoperable and the vehicle has not been inspected by a mechanic.
Have had issues with power loss while driving and lose steering and brakes capabilities. Have replaced fuel pump and fuel connectors 2 times and now again having fuel pump problems as the truck again lost power while driving and steering and brakes did not operate, causing me to nearly hit a pedestrian because of this. This is very dangerous. Dates of these incident are 12/21/03, 7/13/04 and the latest was 6/5/06. Previous repairs were done 12/23/03, 7/13/04 and have not yet brought it in to repair again as last incident happened last night.
Fuel pump attached to gas tank runs (whines) even with engine off - fire hazard.
Consumer states while trying to start car it would not start, took to mechanic, and they stated fuel pump was defective and needed replacing. June 24th problem reoccured.
