Two problems related to wheel bolts have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Plastic nuts loosened when wheels became hot, causing lug: nut cap to loosen. Dealer has attempted to repair vehicle several times. A TSB has been issued on the vehicle, but the TSB didn't correct the problem. Dealer has been using nuts from 90-91 truck whells to minimize the problem.
While driving about 35mph the plastic cover to the lugs: nuts and bolts is coming off, needs to be tightened by hands every time.
