Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

Five problems related to air brake antilock control unit/module have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2005

Abs failure at low speed causing collision in parking lot - this has been a recurring problem with my 2000 Silverado 1500 p/u - resulting in extreme body damage to the truck and a near fatal result for myself and two grandchildren - this truck has been serviced regularly at the dealership, in fact major work was done 6/13/05 and was brought back to the dealership on 7/5/05 with brake concerns.

2 Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2005

2000 chevy Silverado, anti-lock brakes (abs) computer malfuntion. Abs comes on during normal driving and braking! had to pull fuse to keep abs from malfuntioning. Unable to stop at sotp signs at all with abs connected.

3 Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2005

The brakes are weak & when going downhill on a bumpy surface,they go to the floor& you don't know if it's going to stop.

4 Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

The electronic brake control module is failing on my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado which causes a failure in the abs. I contacted Chevrolet and only offered 20% cost assistance even tough this appears to be a very common defect in gm vehicles.

5 Air Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2003

Abs control module failed, price to replace over $800. 00 and parts only available from dealer. Numerous posts in internet message boards about same defective parts. Have contacted gm at least twice by email. Abs has been inoperative for at least 6 months.
