Eight problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving and upon depressing the brake pedal it felt as if there was air in them. Had to push down harder than normal stop the vehicle. The seat belt began to tighten to the point where it was hard to breath. The consumer had to unfasten the belt to release the tension.
Seat belt locks in the retracting position. The seat belt was replaced with a redesigned one but failed one day later.
Passengerside seat belt retracts and locks,the passenger. The belt must be unlatched and refastened. The seat belt does not seem to hold when the brakes are applied very hard. Dealer has no way to check to see if seat belt is operating correctly. I was going to be charged for the replacement of new parts. They don't even know if the part is defective?.
All front seatbelts do not lock. They retract out when pulling on them, in an accident seatbelt would not hold.
The seatbelt locked, would not retract or extend. Pinned driver to front seat, could not look over shoulder while merging in traffic.
The consumer notice that the passenger seat belt would not retract. The consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the seat belt retractor needed to be replaced due to worn parts. Please provide any additional information.
Intermittently driver and passenger restraints will not retract, causing driver and passenger to be unrestrained. Manufacturer has been notified.
While driving the seat belts lock up especially if the vehicle hits a bump, when the consumer moves forward to check the blind spot the the seat belt locks up. Nlm.
