Seven problems related to seats have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When braking the driver's seat moves slightly as though the mounting bolts or slider bolts were loose. I checked the mounting and slider bolts and they are tight, but the problem occurs every time I use the brake pedal. This will result in a virginia state vehicle safety inspection failure because a seat must be secure or it contstitutes a danger. Although the vehicle is a 2000 chevy Silverado 1500 series lt extended cab it only has 13,000 miles on it. Therefore, it isn't driven much indicating to me that the condition resulted from defective material used in the manufacturing of the seat or improper manufacturing itself. I believe that if it were from improper manufacturing as opposed to defective materials then the problem would have shown up at a much earlier date regardless of the low mileage. Therefore, based on the tight bolts that I checked and the low mileage eliminating the consideration of normal wear and tear I would have to assume that this development is from the use of inferior quality material in the construction of these seats resulting in potential endangerment. VIN 2gcec19t6y1168421.
