3 Tire problem

Popping and cracking noise coming from the tires on my truck.

4 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2001

Slight to heavy vibration occurs at highway speeds of beginning at 64mph to 78mph. Pickup has been do dealer 4 times since purchased new on 07/28/01 regarding vibration. Dealer keeps rebalancing the tires and this does not correct the problem. The pickup will be in the dealer's shop again this week, only this time they are looking for drivetrain problems. The vibration at highway speeds appears to be a reoccuring problem with the Silverado since introduction based on other consumer complaints.

5 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2001

Pickup has been to dealer 4 times since purchased new 7/28/01 for vibration which appears to be out of balanced tires. Tires found out of balance by dealer, but problem is not corrected. Vibration occurrs between 60mph to 77mph. (dot number: 24575r16 tiresize: lt245/75r/).

6 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2001

Brought truck into auto dealership and firestone dealership, and both told me that my tire is delaminating. Both told me this is from driving with a flat tire. This tire has never been flat, nor has it ever been low. This is the second issue I have had with the firestone tires on this truck. (tiresize: p265/75r).

7 Tire problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2001

I was in the idaho mountains on a day trip when both rear firestone at tires went flat. I changed the most flat of the two and made it into a town on the spare and a flat tire. I put air in the flat tire and made it home. I contacted gm and they told me that the firestone at tires on their trucks were different than on fords and that their's were safe (yea right). I went to a tire retailer in my area and had all the firestone wilderness at tires (including the spare) removed from my truck and new tires (not firestone) installed. The tire installer verified that the problem was tread separation. I just wanted to ask you to please recall these killer tires. I was lucky and didn't kill myself and my family on our outing because of them. All it cost me was $500. 00 for new tires to replace the garbage firestone wilderness at tires that Chevrolet installed on my truck. (tiresize: p26575r16).

14 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2000

Tires are wearing prematurely in center. Dealer says truck is not out of alignment, it is the tires. Firestone says they are not part of the recall. They look like they have been spun, but this is not the case. They will not last 20,000 miles. They look like the rims may be too narrow to me. ( dot number: tire size: p26575r16 ).

15 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2000

Tire was kept by simpsonville chevy due to their reimbursement claim, against my request. Spoke to firestone dealer today who told me tires have no problems, and if I want tires replaced I pay, they are not resonsible. Have also rec'd run around from Chevrolet, brook lindhart offered reassurance but now I'm not sure, willing to help you in anyway possible including providing accounts by phone tape or testimony. I am tired of being jerked around for something that involves my the safety of my family. No one to date will give me any straight answers. I do also have saved copies of the emails from Chevrolet. 16 Tire problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2000

Despite repeated alignments and balancings, the tires vibrate, the vehicle pulls, and wet and snow performance is poor compared to other oe tires gm has used in the past, I. E. Goodyear. I have discussed this problem with national tire and battery, and they are of the opinion that all wilderness at tires are defective and should be recalled. I have found many other owners of chevys trucks will similar experiences, and there are many people on the internet that have documented blowouts. It is time to act and get wilderness at tires off the road with a complete recall. Thank you for investigating this matter. James cilecek, MD. Cjaimesw@hotmail. Com. 17 Tire problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2000

Truck pulled to right starting around 2,000 miles. Front end was realigned and tires rotated and rebalanced at 5,211 miles. Truck then pulled to left requiring constant pressure to right on steering wheel. Roated tires at 9,807. Truck then pulled to right. Returned to dealer. Dealer realigned again and rotated tires back. I was told it maybe a tire problem. I asked for tires to be replaced under bumper-to-bumper warranty. Dealer will not change out tires. Reported to Chevrolet on oct. 25, 2000. File #c02016717 is open. Called Chevrolet again on 11/22/00. Requested tires be replaced under warranty. Refused replacement by dealer and Chevrolet corporation. (dot number: 0294070 tiresize: p245/75r16).

18 Tire problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2000

Tire caused vehicle to vibrate real bad at high speeds 55-75 mph, dealer checked and said the tire was seperated or out of round, tire replaced by dealer, I do not feel real safe driving on these tires since the similar tires were recalled in a different size. Sincerely, steven dieck( dot number: tire size: 265/75/r16 ).

20 Tire problem

The two front tires had tread separations and both tires were out of round and could not be balanced. Ph.

21 Tire problem

Tires been balance two times and still vibrate highway speed. (dot number: vn11bab060).

22 Tire problem

On September 8, 2000, I purchased a new truck from ken dixon of waldorf, MD. After a day or so of driving, I noticed the vehicle shimmered. When I took it back to the dealer it had less than 500 miles on it. I was informed that GMC does not allow rebalancing of tires until 500 miles has been reached and was directed to firestone. Firestone balanced the tires, however the shimmering still occurs at highway speed. (dot number: none tiresize: lt2457516).

23 Tire problem

Front tires started to show noticeable wear, cause could have been that the front end was out of alignment. They rotated the back tires to front and realigned the front end. Same wear appeared at 5000 miles. Goodyear told me the 23575r16 must be 35lbs on all four tires. The label on the door says 28lbs front end and 35lbs on rear tires. Goodyear says the low inflation has caused permanent damage.

24 Tire problem

Truck vibrates at highway speed - dealer says its tires - goodyear says its truck.

25 Tire problem

While driving consumer heard noise, vehicle was taken to dealership and diagnosed with a bad tire on the front left side, resulting in wear on other tire, consumer took vehicle back to original dealership and firestone CO. For repairs, but did not receive repairs to tire, no specific tire information was given.
