Five problems related to air brake antilock control unit/module have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2001 chevy Silverado z-71 - 78,000 miles - abs brakes engage during normal road conditions at slow speeds (under 10mph). This occurs 80% of the time the vehicle needs to brake. Mechanic has quoted me $900 to replace abs control module. Needless to say, this a very dangerous problem!!! gm needs to resolve this problem before someone is seriously injured or killed!!!!.
Total failure of the abs braking unit.
Dt: while driving exactly 10 mph the vehicle's brakes locked up. The consume has stopped driving the vehicle because he is afraid an accident will result. The dealer has not repaired the vehicle but indicated t needed to be cleaned.
I have an 01 Chevrolet Silverado with an abs problem. The motor or pump activates prematurely and way too often. It has been worked on ,at a GMC dealership, three timesthe first inccident happened in a walmart parking loti was turning into a space when the abs motor just took off. I wasnt going to get stopped,my wife screamed, I threw the gear selector into park. I hate to think that if my wife had been driving and there was person in front of us instead of a parked car what might have happened. Thank you gm for caring about americas safety.
The abs system of my 2001 chevy Silverado has never worked properly. The system activates constantly, and the dealer was repeatedly unable to repair the problem. I urge to to issue a recall for this type of vehicle.
