Battery problems of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Four problems related to battery have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Battery problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2006

: the contact stated the positive post on the battery fractured causing acid to leak onto the vehicle and the driveway. The contact replaced the battery. The dealer has been alerted.

2 Battery problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2006

Ac delco side mount maintenance free battery positive terminal leaked acid into the battery tray causing minor burn on hands when I unknowingly placed my hands into area to remove battery. Battery acid has also leaked onto my front brake system. Of which could caused future problems with stopping.

3 Battery problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2004

While driving check engine and the battery light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Then, vehicle stalled. Consumer tried to restart vehicle, but a mile down the highway, vehicle stalled for the second time. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

4 Battery problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2002

The ac delco battery leaked acid which dripped onto the front left brake line. I noticed this before it corroded the brake line and caused a crash. This has been happening to many vehicles with the ac delco battery. I ask you to investigate this before it kills hundreds of people. This should be a recall.
