Eight problems related to gasoline engine have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Throttle pedal sticks at idle, when I push on the throttle truck jumps forward. This started about 55,000 miles and now have 63,000. The problem happens daily, but not all the time.
When hauling heavy loads, consumer states the truck consumes more oil than normal. Consumer feels this may be a deffect. Please provide any further information. Mr.
Engine light stays on all the time. Consumer feels there may be a serious problem with engine because oil needs to be changed every 7000 miles. Please provide any further information.
Consumer states there is something wrong with the engine. The oil pressure would not remain constant, instead it bounced up and down.
While driving, consumer heard a noise. When vehicle comes to a complete stop it vibrates. Took to dealership and motor was out of balance.
Now living in crescent city CA. Dealer here refuses to fix engine knock.
The engine knocks at startup when engine is cold. I contacted gm and I have gone to a local dealer about the problem (not lawson Chevrolet which was the dealer I purchased the vehicle from). Neither general motors or the local dealer where of any help. Basically I have been told the knocking at startup is normal.
The engine knocks for approximately 10 seconds upon starting the truck.
