One problem related to latches/locks/linkage has been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was driving normally, down my driveway, at approximately 3 mph, and my spare tire detached and fell off the undercarriage of my truck while the vehicle was in motion. The cable holding the tire in place broke. Nothing has been done to correct this problem. My spare tire is no longer able to be attached to my vehicle. If this happened on a highway, someone could have been killed.
