Frame rust enough to void inspection. Rust noticed within a year after purchase. Vehicle now fails inspection. I have another older gm vehicle housed in the same place, driven in the same area with double the mileage and three years older without this issue. I feel it is design/materials issue.
While vehicle was pulling a trailer loaded with a race car, the truck started grinding down with a knocking noise. . Unattached trailer from truck and brought home. . . Rear-end cover had rusted and leaked out all the fluid. . . While changing that noticed that the break line underneath the plastic cover under passenger side door had rusted in two( the brake line on each side of this cover looked good it was only underneath the cover) but upon further examination all brake lines are starting to corrode. . . There are 3 Silverado in my family two 2003 and a 2002. In 2 different states( one of them travels through the highest mountain in kentucky (black mountain). When told the other owners of this problem they inspected there vehicles and sure enough all of them have corroded and breaking brake lines. . . Had it not been for god warning us with the grinding noises. . . What would have happened to not only all my family members driving but whomever was riding with them!!!!!!!!.
On my way to work I was turning into gas station and my brakes failed I got stopped without hitting anything . Brake line broke on front left side had towed to auto repair shop. They replaced brake line and was told all other lines coroded and need replaced too expensive ibrought truck home.
My wife was driving our 2003 Silverado when she was approaching a bend in the road. She went to apply the brakes, and the pedal went right to the floor. To avoid hitting other viecles, she ended up going off on the side of the road where she put the shifter into park and applued the ebrake. A tow service was called and had the car towed to a local service shop. The shop had determined that the cause of the brake faliluer was due to rusted brake lines. I find it amazing that on a truck with no rust, that the brake lines are the first thing to rust out.
Overheated connector in dash, possibly loose at assembly. Origin behind instrument panel, driver side of dash.
I purchased a 2003 chevy Silverado lt manufactured in Nov 2002, for the past yr and a half the truck has been in and out of the shop numerous times for electrical problems, my outside temp and direction indicator located on the rear view, the heated seats, the remote entry have all stopped working and sometimes the stereo will come on and work properly but with no sound, constantly having to get a jump start because the battery was drained while parked. I have replaced the battery twice. After talking to several different technicians at different dealerships I found out that those items I just listed are controlled by the body control module or (bcm). Also that it will draw power off of the battery. That is the same problem recalled on the other gm vehicles, why is the recall not being added to the chevy trucks as well. My truck was manufactured very close to the same time as the malibu's and other gm vehicles that are being recalled and I would like to know if my vehicle has the same part.
Brakes failed on my 2003 chevy truck. Rusted lines were the problem. Gm wants $1650. To fix problem.
