The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact received recall notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v050000 (air bags) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair. However, after damaging the passenger's side of the dashboard where the front passenger's side the air bag is located, the dealer informed the contact that they had ordered the wrong part and he should bring the vehicle back another time for recall repair. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact they would repair the dashboard. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle back to the dealer for recall repair, the dealer informed the contact that they would not complete the recall repair unless he signed a waiver certifying that they were not liable for the damage to the dashboard. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The dashboard is broken at the upper left corner of the air bag housing on the passenger side.
Dash is cracking around airbag and instrument panel causing serious concern about projectiles if airbag were to deploy.
Dash cracked right above airbag only 40 thousand miles on truck. It's known to be a widespread problem with these vehicles and could cause a safety concern being by airbag.
Dashboard crack near passenger airbag. Safety issue in my opinion. Numerous other complaints not vehicle specific. Many Chevrolet dashboard issues. Facebook page dedicated to gm crack dash issues.
I was driving into the parking garage at work to a parking spot. As I braked and slowed turning into the parking spot the truck accelerated and crashed into a concrete support beam. Airbags deployed and the truck suffered quite a bit of damages to the passenger side front end. I am unsure of speed at time of accident.
The dash surrounding the air bag on the passenger side of the vehicle cracked. Don't know how this will affect the operation of the air bag in case of an emergency.
My vehicle was forced off the road by another vehicle causing my vehicle to hit a light pole head on. No air bags deployed. Driver and passenger suffered injury.
