Four problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Cracked dash. My vehicle only has 30k miles and already has a crack.
2013 ltz Silverado 47,000 milage dash cracked in the upper left corner of airbag area. Feel could be a safety hazard if in an accident and airbag is deployed causing the dash to throw shards of plastic in cab. It cracked one day just as I started truck while stationary.
The dash has cracked in 2 places next to the passenger airbag. Should it deploy there will be a piece as long as a big knife that will become a projectile.
Dashboard is cracked in 2 places adjacent to the airbag cover. Gm and the dealer are willing to replace it out of warranty but are requiring me to cover nearly half the replacement cost of $700. This should be a recall issue as an airbag deployment would create plastic projectiles in the cabin that could injure a passenger. I can provide a photo if requested.
