Chevrolet Silverado owners have reported 33 problems related to electronic stability control (under the electronic stability control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Al these lights came on out of no where one cold day. Steering assist, abs, break. Also service trailer brake, service stabilitrak. I went online there are so many people with the exact issue. Recall your mistake and fix your problem. Don't screw the customer. I locked up my brakes because the car in front of me and I almost hit them due to my abs not working I fish tailed sideways. It's a matter of time before someone is hurt. It is a big issue many people have spoke about. I also explained to the guy when I scheduale the recall to be fixed and he said that my lights out a different issue the recall is just a program update for something with the brakes. Then I bring it there 45min later they cant update the truck and complete the recall due to the lights on in the truck!!! I'm just upset I explained everything before appointment and still got screwed. Also after looking there is a lot of people with the exact problem as me. . Weird.

The abs system failed when braking on a snowy, icy, slippery road locking all four wheels causing the vehicle to skid out of control. The brake light and abs light and tcs icon were displayed. The brakes had to be released to regain steering control and judicious use of manual braking eventually brought the vehicle to a stop. The abs pump motor was noted running continuously even with the engine off. Onstar diagnostics indicated a traction control system error. This braking failure occurred in conditions that the abs is specifically designed to prevent loss of control!.
This morning I was driving to work. Stabiltrak error message came on my hud. Cluster and dashboard lights flashed off. Stopped. Everything flashed back on and radio presets were all gone. Not sure if this will continue to keep happening or if it is a frozen sensor, since it has been below 32 degrees here.
Takata recall total loss non repairable.
Entire instrument cluster went out while driving causing loss of needed information such as speed and other pertinent information. Dealer says there is a TSB that the entire truck has to be re-flashed including all modules in the vehicle because it does not recognize the instrument cluster. During this time, all safety systems flashed and appeared to be inactive. Air bag, traction control, abs, trailer braking etc. This needs to be investigated to see if a recall must happen. If we got in an accident during this occurrence who knows if any of the safety systems on the vehicle were functioning.

Was driving to physical therapy. Pulled up to a stop light and "stabilitrack failure" poped up. Was pulling into the doctors office not 8 min l8r came up again but this time steering wheel locked up then un locked then locked up multiple times while I was trying to pull into a parking space. Thankfully I was going at an extremely low speed and I could control the vehicle between it locking and unlocking. When I left the doctors office I noticed my settings reset. Ex dashboard display showed the radio station instead of the fuel economy. I simply changed it and noticed the computer erased my previous fuel economy. I'm assuming theirs some malfunction between the computer and these systems. And from the looks of it my vehicle isn't the only vehicle with this issue. Now my check engine light is on and I'll be taking this back to the dealer and it will be fixed and never happen again or I won't purchase another gm vehicle.

Why can,t the dealership find the promble.
I have a 2015 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with 5000 miles. While driving to work ( less then 2 miles) my service 4wd system warning came up. The truck is stuck in 4wd can not switch it out. Also while stuck in 4wd turning is very difficult. Called dealership they told me it was safe to drive it in. While on my way to the dealership still stuck in 4wd my check engine and traction control lights came on. The truck started to shack and shifting at random and the rpm were all over up and down. I got to the dealership and checked in they took it for a test drive while I waited. After waiting 4 hours they tell me the engine has issues they don't know what or why and that it will be a few days before they will know anything. So that waiting game begins.

We have had a recurring issue with the traction control feature on this vehicle since buying it. Randomly and out of nowhere it will show stabilitrak off on the instrument panel. The engine becomes sluggish when this happens. This, to me, is a safety hazard when driving. There is also an issue with the ignition getting stuck when starting where it grinds the starter. I have to turn the truck off and start it again to get it to stop. I have had the vehicle at the dealer where it was purchased and they have no clue what to do about the stabilitrak issue. I have read many complaints on this and there should be a recall.

On Monday October 5, 2015, I was driving truck at approximately 60 mph on highway when suddenly all electronics went black and complete loss of power on highway. Luckily, I was able to pull of to side of road. I turned the key to off position (engine was not running) and waited several minutes then turned truck on and it started. The traction light kept coming on and off but the truck did not loose power again-thankfully. I could have been killed or caused a serious accident.
First incident the stabilitrack service light flashed so fast I could barely read it. . Second incident happened on September 20,2015 and it happened twice. The stabilitrack light came on again but this time the door locks locked and unlocked , lights went off and on , radio went off and on and it stalled the engine almost as if the vehicle shorted out. Luckily I was pulling into a parking lot because I had no control. I apllied the brake and put the vehicle in park and it restarted. About 45 minutes later it did the same exact thing as I was pulling into my driveway. It is at the dealership now.
All stabilitrak/traction control shut off. Dealer states code c0455, steering angle sensor. Please investigate how many code c0455 have been listed for years. Service bulletins have been issued by gm. Known issue not being repaired causing stabilitrak and traction control to disengage. The numbers posted in forums indicate a large problem. Should be a recall.

While driving to work in heavy traffic, my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with 27,000 mile suddenly lost power and slowed from 50mph to 25mph in a matter of seconds. Due to the extreme reduction in speed with out my brake lights being engaged, a vehicle following me had to make an emergency maneuver, turn in the right lane, and almost struck a third vehicle. Three warning messages were given that included, engine power reduced, traction control off and service stabilitrack. The vehicle started to run extremely rough and I pulled into a parking lot. While in the parking, lot I researched the above listed messages and found that several other owners have experienced the same problem that has been linked to the throttle body system and the intake. I then researched if any recalls have been issued for this vehicle. I found that a service bulletin was issued but not a recall. I was also surprised that this issue appears to have nothing to due with stabilitrack. I then limped the vehicle home at 20 mph. When the vehicle would shift from first to second gear it would lung forward violently. I later called the pitre GMC, in albuquerque nm, and spoke with a service representative. I asked him if a recalled had been issued for these vehicles in reference to this type of incident. He stated that he did not know of a recall but I could drive it down to their service department and they could check the codes on it. I was surprised by his response instructing me to drive an unsafe vehicle. I believe this issue needs to be addressed due to the likelihood of a motor vehicle crash that could result in sever injury or death. Hopefully gm and NHTSA will not wait until there are numerous deaths to address this problem. This is potentially as dangerous as the ignition switch issue that killed several people. I am a generational Chevrolet consumer, but that will probably change.

When I put the vehicle in reverse I heard a loud clunk and the "stabilitrak" warning came on and the indicator (cursor) that tells you what gear you are in disappeared. I turned the ignition off and opened the door to reset everything. I started the car again and everything was normal. Driving down the road at 40 mph the "stabilitrak" warning came on again and the gear indicator disappeared. I pulled over and turned off the ignition and opened the door. Started the engine again and everything was normal. Driving behind traffic at 20 mph the "stabilitrak" warning came on again, the gear warning indicator disappeared and the rpm's went to 3000 rpm. I immediately pulled off the road and had the vehicle towed. If the transmission had shifted to a different gear this would have been a disaster.
Bad shake at highway speeds, balancing tires didn't help, faulty steering components could be a safety issue.
Drove 15 miles to store. Shopped. Started home engine knight came on. Tcl light staying on and truck shaking will barely run.
Dash lights go out while driving down the road have to push on dashboard to make them come back concerned that this may be a fire hazard.

Driving about 60 mph about 10 miles into the trip when the truck lost speed, the abs brakes did a slight on and off pulsating every couple of seconds, the engine was running rough and giving it gas the engine revved up but wouldn't go anywhere. Speed dropped down to 35 or 40 mph and wouldn't go any faster. The dash indicator showed messages stating stabilitrak traction control turned off and check engine light is on. It jolted real hard when it shifts gears. When I mashed the brake it didn't want to come to a complete stop without pressing the brakes to hold the truck there. I pulled into a store popped the hood and finding nothing I turned the truck off for a few seconds and restarted it but nothing changed and the error messages were still being displayed. The trucks engine was running rough. I headed home and it didn't have any power and jolted hard as it shifted gears. I coudln't go but 35 or 40 mph on the level ground. If I went up a slight hill the truck slowed down more until I got past the hill. I gave it gas and the engine would rev up but had no power and wouldn't go 35 or 40 mph. I parked the truck in the garage and in 10 minutes I went to start it to get the error messages and it started up fine and the engine wasn't running rough. I drove it 1/2 mile down the road and back and it ran perfect. I googled the error messages and found alot of complaints and comments about this issue on the Chevrolet forum website. No recall information just alot of people experiencing the same issue and alot worse cases that almost caused accidents. Is there a recall on this issue? I read that I will probably have the issue again because after it sits for 10 min it probably won't have a problem until a few minutes or days later. I can only hope doesn't cause me to have a wreck and kill myself or someone else. This is a major issue and should be recalled to fix the problem.
The dash instrument cluster failed and does not read a correct temperature nor does the oil gauge read correctly. There is a clicking sound within the instrument panel continuously. The vehicle was taken in for service at the gm company. It was determined that the cluster is failing and the reading are not correct on the dashboard panel are nor right. It will require replacement. Gm says that the special recall for this problem is expired and they will not fix my truck. The special recall expired in 2011.

I went to slow to make turn and brakes went to the floor suddenly so I used emergency brake to stop. I believe all lines will need to be replaced as other look as rusty. Rust has been an issue for last 2 years with rotors needing replace then bearings in front rusted and anti-lock brake light would come on and pedal would surge. This is the worse chevy truck I ever bought as even seeing rust already in lower panels and entire frame. Looks bad for only 53474 miles.
For the past year 1/2 the service stabilitrak / service traction control lights have been coming on followed by hard shifts and now I'm scared to drive it for my own safety and others on the roads ! I've spent over $2000 on trying to fix this problem with no prevail !! very aggravated by this problem and nobody including the dealership can tell me why it's doing this ! I really need help on this problem cause I have 2 small children that I'm scared for them to ride in the truck ! help me and the millions of others I've seen with this very same problem and Chevrolet has issued no ! recalls on this !!? now the problem seems to be getting worse cause before the lights would come on randomly and stay on a few minutes and everything would go back to normal , but now they stay on all the time and the hard shifting from 1 and 2 follow always ! unreal !.

Front brake line rusted through. Hard to understand how a vehicle manufacturer can produce a vehicle with stainless exhaust that lasts as long as the truck but still assemble vehicle with steel brake lines that rust through causing brake failure. There are better materials to make brake lines from and Chevrolet should be forced to use them.

I have had a recurring problem with my new 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt (5. 3 liter engine) going into "reduced engine power mode" which also results in the disabling of stability control and traction control. This is a dangerous condition in that it results in a loss of power while operating the vehicle upon the roadway. An authorized repair facility has replaced the number one and two throttle sensors, the accelerator pedal assembly, the throttle body, the alternator, the computer, and a large ground wire behind the dash. A gm engineer was flown in and now the repair center is replacing the engine wiring harness. The vehicle (which was purchased less than three months ago) has been out of service for approximately 30 days. In researching this matter I have found that chevy has had an ongoing problem with this in various vehicles in its product line since 2003. Although several service bulletins have been produced there does not seem to be a consensus regarding the cause of this problem. All of the parts associated with trouble codes c0242, p2127, and p2138 have been replaced without result. This condition could result in the affected vehicles being rearended, or, because of the loss of stability and traction control, result in a roll over. This needs to be addressed immediately.
I was driving 35mph when my truck lost its stability control and droped me from 35 to 10 in a matter of seconds, and the car behind almost hit my truck. The power steering also was tough to operant. The truck has 44000 miles on it. What would happen if my truck was on the freeway?.
I was traveling on a divided highway and approaching a slow moving truck in the right lane ahead of me. There was another truck behind me in my lane. I moved to the left lane to pass the slow truck. Just after I began the pass my pickup slowed quickly and began flashing error messages: stability control disabled, engine power reduced & service stabilitrak. The truck behind me had moved up close and followed me around the slow moving truck. I was unable to accelerate and continued slowing quickly. I had just enough room to swerve in behind the slow truck as my speed fell below its speed. The truck behind me narrowly avoided a rear impact with my truck, which, I believe, would have been catastrophic. I pulled to the right and tried to speed up. About 40 mph was all my truck would do. I stopped and got out the manual. It said to reset the stabilitrak, turn the vehicle off for 30 seconds. I did that and the truck seemed to functioned normally, at least as far as engine power. I still had traction control & stabilitrak error messages and the service engine light was on. I was able to return 40 miles to my home town with no further incidents. I was able to get my truck into the chevy dealer on the 30th. The service rep recognized my description immediately as a "throttle sensor" failure. It was repaired under warranty. There have been no further incidents. My concerns are dual: first, only luck and years of emergency vehicle operation training enabled me to avoid being hit from behind by the following truck when my truck unexpectedly and without warning lost power. An impact would have likely be life threatening considering the speed and proximity of two trucks. Second, subsequently, I have found multiple internet reports of this issue going back several model years and my service paper work indicates a gm service bulletin for it exists.
While driving 60mph on a highway, the truck suddenly lurched and two warnings came on the dash; service stabilitrac and service traction control. The truck also operated under reduced power and I had no control over the accelerator. Going up hills was an adventure. This is a serious safety hazard for this to happen while driving at anytime anywhere. Did extensive research online, and found this is a common problem with gm stabilitrac. Brought truck to dealer for repair and they said this is the first one they had seen with this condition. Truck had 37,400 miles. Dealer replaced throttle control body for free under the powertrain warranty. Truck currently runs fine, but the truck does not idle as well as it used to, slight vibration and stutter, dealer said gm said this is common and not a problem, it is set electronically and cannot be adjusted. Do we really need all this electronic crap?.

On my 2007 Silverado I am constantly having to take it in to get serviced for traction control and service stabilitrak. My active fuel management lifters are also not functioning properly. This happens when I am making turns. The vehicle will lose control and it feels very dangerous. My brakes are constantly being replaced and I feel like there is some major issues when the vehicle was built.
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab small v8 2wd. Abs activates at slow stopping speed. No abs light comes on. Stopping distance reduced. This occurs at every stop. Truck bought white allen Chevrolet dayton ohio and driven in dayton ohio area. Problem started at 37000 miles.
Within two months of purchasing my brand new Silverado, I noticed this issue and it has persisted. My vehicle now has 73,000 miles on it, and it happens even more frequently. I've brough this problem up to chevy on multiple occasions, and they have always told me to bring the vehicle when it's doing this, but within 30 minutes of operating the vehicle, the warning lights go off. Many times when I start my vehicle, the "stabilitrack", and "anti-lock brake system" warning lights come on. There's normally a click/thud when I start the vehicle, immediately followed by the warning lights coming on. When it does this, a lot of times the vehicle won't even shift into gear for about five minutes. It's my belief that when these lights are on, these items aren't working. I've driven up to 45 minutes with both lights being on. They will usually stay on until I've operated the vehicle for at least 30 minutes, and then turn the vehicle off. After I've done so, and then restarted the vehicle, the lights will usually go off. These are both very impotant safety features. I've gone on numerous gm threads and found that hundreds of Silverado owners from 2007 up until today continue to have the issue and nobody ever does anything about it. The owners who did get gm to actually turn a wrench in efforts to fix the problem all say it ultimately returned. The vehicle not going into gear is something that recently started happening with the problem. If I start the truck and the warning lights aren't on, the vehicle operates fine, however, if I start the vehicle and the warning lights are on, it usually takes several minutes to get the vehicle in gear.
Occasionally when down-shifting to stop engine rpm stays at about 1,500 rpm or accelerates. Onstar said crankshaft speed sensor defective. Dealer unable to duplicate. Went through a controlled intersection three times due to this, lucky no traffic a factor. I now put into neutral at stops.
The engine keep crashing down, the indicator say low engine pressure, check engine pressure, then the hole truck will shut down in the middle of producing. This happen three time already. Im on the highway driving 80mil and the truck will shut down, cant move the wheel, cant change lines, cant restart the truck or anything. This has almost coast me life three time. What kind of safety shut down is that. I think it is very unsafe and needs to change or fix. I spent over 2,500. 00 on my truck thinking the problem is fix, but it keep recurring. The chevy engineers guys just say that the prob cant be fix and my best bet is to get a new truck, or engine. I don't have money for that.
