One problem related to other fuel system pump has been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl- the contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly would not start upon turning the key in the ignition and there was a warning light flashing for the fuel pump. The fuel pump was replaced by an independent mechanic and the failure recurred. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers functioned intermittently and the vent controls also failed to work. The boots on the tail lights have been replaced twice and the failure recurr in which there was a wire that continued to short causing the lighting to fail to work for the rear tail lights. The contact continued to experience the condition of the vehicle not starting upon turning the key. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. There was a technical service bulletin pie-0043 NHTSA id number 10034428 that indicated engineering information - fuel tank pressure sensor, dtcs p0446, p0451 or p0454 set. The TSB stated that GMC engineering was attempting to determine the root cause of the above concern but they currently did not have a remedy to repair the failure the contact was experiencing. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000. Dyd.
