Three problems related to gasoline fuel system have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 chev. Silverado. Throttle hangs causing vehicle to accelerate either forward or reverse rapidly. Normally sticks from full stopped position possibly causing crashes, particularly in reverse from a parking position. Problem was repaired under warranty, warranty has expired and problem has returned. Could cause serious personal and vehicle damage.
Several years ago my fuel gauge began acting up. It would flip quickly to the "no gas" position periodically and then flip back several minutes later. The low fuel light would go off and on. When I fill the truck up it always flips to the empty position and then begins it's back and forth flipping. I have trained everyone in my family to always reset the mileage indicator and watch it carefully to insure they don't run out of gas. I've had numerous cars over the years (Honda for 20 years) and have never experienced a problem like this. At the present time, two people I know with the same truck built the same year or within a year of mine have the same problem. I'm wondering why a recall has not been issued for this problem.
Throttle body sticking at low speeds throttle sticks until pedal is pushed beyond desired point causing vehicle to surge forward. I hit garage wall. Exact problem occurred at 30,000 miles, dealer replaced throttle body(bad bushings) under warranty.
