general problems of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Fuel leaking from attach point of fuel crossover tube and passenger side fuel rail.

Tl- the contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet silverado 800. The contact stated that while stationary a abnormal oder was detected inside the vehicle however when the contact went to open the hood the latch failed to operate. The contact also mentioned that while trying to open the hood he seen fire coming from underneath the hood. The contact mentioned that he believe the fire was coming from the fuel box which burnt the engine wire harness. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A police report was filed. There was no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to the contact residence. The vehicle was not destroyed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic test or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage is unknown.

I have had right rear brake line rust out. I had front brake lines rust out. I had the brake line to the abs from booster rust out. Had the fuel lines rust out(leaking raw gas) had oil lines for automatic transmission rust out. Each time I was lucky that it happened in the city at low speeds and not while pulling a trailer. I also had trouble with the abs kicking in falsely at slow speeds(also rust build up at wheel sensor mounting place.

Takata recall? I would like to know what recalls were made on this vehicle that I might have missed? and what to do about them. My dealer went out of business and I was never notified about any of the recalls I am just now finding out about. Thank you.
