Brake Abs Warning Light problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the driver side seat belt would suddenly retract and prevent the contact from moving. Also, the contact indicated that the ignition key became lodged in the ignition switch and could not be removed. In addition, the abs sensor light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the abs pump motor was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 168,000.

The vehicle was later taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that since the recall had already been performed on the vehicle, they were not able to assist. This occurred coming to a stop at a stop light and coming into a parking spot. The problem has occurred intermittently at least 7 times in the weeks following this first incident. The brakes also make a grinding noise at the last point of breaking. I called the dealership and described the above. They informed me there is no problem with the abs unless the light is on. They said they would have to keep the truck and drive it until it exhibited the problem. I called the gm recall hot line on may 12, 2010. Based on my VIN he said my truck was not included in the recall but that his notes showed that the wheel sensor had been inspected and cleaned when I had the brakes done in 2007. He offered no help at all. This problem is serious and I will be pulling the abs fuse to hopefully disable the system and avoid an accident. It is clear from the many complaints here and elsewhere all over the internet that this is a safety issue due to a failure that gm should be responsible for.

Abs light keeps coming on and off, when this happens I have no brakes causing me to run out into intersections or property. I have cleaned the abs sensors 2x and the problem keeps persisting this has happened 3x now.
