Equipment problem #1

I went to a guys house who was selling a 2005 chevy silverado with 114,000 miles on the cluster. He didn't have the title under his name. He was title skipping. Gave him 5,000. 00 that he was asking for on 11/02/2020 then went to find the owner with his name on title. Had him sign the title over to me. Went to dmv and changed the title under my name. Then 11/28/2020 I ran a carfax report to see what maintenance has been done on my truck and it says that my truck had more than 250,000 miles on it. I confront the man that same day. And asked him if he changed the mileage he said yes. I then asked him to give 2,000. 00 because the truck is not worth 5,000. 00 he said he was not going to give me a penny. So I made a police report that same day on 11/28/2020.

Equipment problem #2

My son was driving home from work on the highway and the truck started shaking. He pulled over and saw that the tire was coming apart. This is a sumitomo tire 285/50r20 115h. Dot v4jd 3mtr4910. This was a very dangerous situation especially because all of the tires are the same. The truck was parked until we can figure out what to do.

Equipment problem #3

Used aux port to charge cell phone. With in seconds smoke starts coming from dash. After containing fire I removed dash cover to find that the power wire that controls aux port and obd2 port had over loaded and caught fire with caused internal damage to all electrical and internal dash. After doing complete walk through I noticed in fuse box under the hood that the fuse that controls 2 auxs had melted down. Right fuse was installed before electrical fire. During time of incident vehicle was mobile in town on public roads. After cab of pick up started filling with smoke I pulled over and used chemical fire extinguisher to smother flames.

Equipment problem #4

Well, I contacted gm years ago asking why the frames on these vehicles rot out so fast. They told me to send pics. And that’s all that came from that. So, years ago, I heard a banging noise in the right rear side of my truck. My rear shock mount rotted out and driving home later there was even more noise. The left rear shock mount rotted out also. I removed the bed to assess damage, and I couldn’t believe the amount of rust I was looking at. I bought an aftermarket kit and had the shock mounts welded back on. The company selling the kit said that they sell tons of those kits. I would say that’s a safety issue. Especially when the whole from appears to be rotting away. That seems like a mayor issue to me. I probably won’t be buying another chevy truck seeing how my wife’s Honda is as old as my truck and has no rust under it.

Equipment problem #5

Fuzion tires size 265/70r/17 both back tires with only 5,000 miles developed a bulge on the tread and had to be replaced.

Equipment problem #6

Rusting brake lines in hard to reach areas of the vehicle that normal washing doesn't clean. I was slowing down for traffic getting of the highway when my brake pedal went to the floor. I used the e-brake to get home and when I arrived home I crawled underneath the truck and found where the hard line goes to the flex line over the rear end it had split. I repaired that and now right next to the gas tank in split again 3 weeks later pulling into the driveway at my home.

Equipment problem #7

My 2005 silverado that I bought brand new was brought in for body work on the bed on the truck. When the body shop removed the bed to do the body work repairs they discovered that the frame, frame cross members, leaf spring shackles, brake lines, shock mounts are rusted and rotted through. No under coating left anywhere on my frame or under my gm silverado. The vehicle is now deemed unsafe for the road and general motors knowing the vehicle is unsafe has said they can not help me and has not assisted with repairing the trucks frame at this point. I am still working with general motors to attempt to resolve this issue. This is a know issue that gm does not want to address easily for us consumers. Longest lasting trucks on the road is there slogan my lasted 8 years. Guess silver-rot-o's are disposable trucks after 8 years. General motors will need to step up and resolve my issue or I will never buy another new gm product ever again. Plan to bring the truck to local dealers to show them the damage while the bed is off the truck. Bottom line is this. . . . My gm truck is unsafe for the road, gm needs to fix my truck to keep this loyal gm owner satisfied with there product line. Mind you I own 5 gm vehicles my wife's grandfather sold pontiac's for 50+ years. This is not the way to stand by your product gm and the easiest way to lose a life lone loyal gm customer. Toyota is standing by there trucks by fixing frame rot issues for their consumers you should too. Mine was built in canada just as a side note. Fix my 2006 silverado truck gm. Stand by your word and horror your slogan and make my silverado the longest last truck on the road.

Equipment problem #8

A car with no lights (at night) came up and the driver of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had to hit the gas pedal to speed up to get out of his way. The driver lost control and hit the ditch. The front end was damaged, and the cab is now sitting incorrectly on the truck. The air bag did not deploy.

Equipment problem #9

I bought my truck, 2005 silverado z71 from a used car dealer in December 2014. I love the truck. I live in maine. We have state inspection laws that are enforced by the police. When the inspection sticker ran out in January 2015, I was unable to get a new one, due to the frame is badly rusted. I called the dealer I bought it from and he basically told me to get bent and that it wasn't his problem, even though he assured me I would have no trouble getting an inspection sticker when the time came, at the time of the sale (I could only assume he was right, because the truck looks perfect). I understand that he is just trying to make a living, like the rest of us, and do not hold it against him. I do not, however, understand how gm can get away with making vehicles that cannot last 10 years. The truck is perfect, inside and out, it runs great, yet you can take pieces of the frame off with your bare hands. I now have a $260/month payment for the next 3 1/2 years that I am stuck with. I cannot sell the truck for nearly what I bought it for 8 months ago. I went ahead and called the corporate office of Chevrolet yesterday, and after 3 separate calls, I was put in contact with a higher-up and he told me there was nothing that could be done to help me, as the manufacturer's warranty has expired. He also said this is the first complaint he has heard, "I mean, come on, this is a 10 year old truck". Doubt it. Anyways, this a definite safety concern, as I don't think my truck would fare too well in a collision. I will not let my 6 y/o daughter ride in it. I would also just like to say that due the amount of rust on the frame of my truck, it has been going on for several years, and I only wish someone had pointed this out sooner, and maybe then it would have been covered under the factory warranty, though I seriously doubt it after speaking with donald yesterday.

Equipment problem #10

Cruise control stopped working, will not power on.

Equipment problem #11

While driving speedometer reads wrong but odometer is ok? stop and turn off it works ok for a time. Try to start sometimes it will crank other time it dont gm extended the warranty to cover the dash panel but did not notify me or anyone that I know of I found it online after time had expired (speedometer) and will also control engine cranking .

Equipment problem #12

Ignition switch is getting harder and harder to get the key to turn.

Equipment problem #13

Upon having my truck inspected for 2014, it was revealed to me that all of the brake lines on the truck were severely corroded and needed replaced. I was told that this is a "common" problem on chevy trucks. The cost of repairing the brake lines has been estimated at a much higher number than the $500 that GMC quotes. On top of that I fail to see why they can create stainless steel exhaust systems, but apparently use cheap metal for their hard brake lines. I actually had the truck undercoated at the chevy dealership so that I would not have to deal with these type of issues. I'm not sure who undercoated the vehicle, but I will never get it done by Chevrolet again. I have had much older vehicles (1982) that went double the amount of years before needing any hard brake repairs. I have read about the investigation into these vehicles up to the year 2003, but I think that the problem must still exist in newer vehicles such as mine.

Equipment problem #14

Chevy silverado and chevy suburban with same problem. Check engine light comes on. This could either mean to check engine or that the gas cap is loose. Engine was checked and so was gas cap. Nothing wrong. Servicer turned off the check engine light. Next time truck was started up the light came on again.

Equipment problem #15

My trucks brakes catastrophically failed for the third time two weeks ago. Luckily these failures happened in a driveway or low speed with no accident results. The latest brake failure happened without warning, just a week after hauling my loaded horse trailer through the mountains. We could have been killed or killed someone if this brake failure happened a week earlier. While backing up, about 6 inches from hitching the trailer, the brake pedal went to the floor and brake fluid poured out. The same thing happened Aug. 2014. I have spent thousands of dollars in the past fixing issues with the abs sensors, brake lines, et al. This truck just turned 100,000 miles. This should not happen, ever! I live in the northeast, lots of salted roads but these parts must be junk. I have never had another vehicle with problems like this. This is a major safety issue and gm has to remedy this problem ASAP. It has been happening for a long time and they are dragging their feet in recalling the '05 and newer trucks.

Equipment problem #16

The ignition lock has not worked on this vehicle for close to 5 years. After starting the vehicle, the key may be removed at any time while the engine is running or being driven.

Equipment problem #17

Exhaust manifold bolts breaking off. One next to a plastic sensor which melted. . Read more...

Equipment problem #18

The intermediate steering shaft is loose and make a lot of noise while driving.
